Title: More 3D, part two. Romans and Gauls.
Post by: cowabounga on December 10, 2014, 14:43:23
So.

The Roman theme by PM didn't need so much more accessories. I'm working on a horn/trumpet, but obviously, some different helmets would have helped. Here are my two models, basically it's the same model with or without the crest.

Now Gauls! Those are MY country history, so they needed a special attention.  ;D

I know, there are more 3D renders than objects represented with the actual figures, that's because Sculpteo are so slow!!! I'm still expecting two shields and two helmets...

Those are soooo nice.. I suppose the painting helps too!

Those wings - are they "soft" enough not to break?

Very cool!

Sculpteo? I've never looked into 3D printing before, but there's one small thing I really want, and that might be the way to go.

Well, they're not "soft" enough, they're thick enough. You wouldn't want to drop the clicky with the helmet on, though.

The Gauls look amazing! I reckon they're the best of your custom mouldings so far! <*)

Ah, right! Well, I'm sure you're careful with them   - but maybe you should share that with his opponents?  ;D

Thanks friends!
It was really fun designing those. Plus, there are nice HD pictures of Gaul helmets on the web, so designing becomes even more accurate to real life models.

Hey folks!
Back again, as promised. Here are my latest Gauls, including some Lord Of The Rings (LOTR) Rohan shields, which fit nicely for Gauls or Vikings!

Indeed! The Gaul leader add-on (7923) Macruran posted is one of my all- time- favourite klickies ever made, together with the yellow Zulu warrior from the add-on 7460 my favourite add-on. The most beautiful special is in my opinion still the 4595 Sultanswache.

Mon semblable, — mon frère! I too love 7923. I can't explain why but it's just a captivatingly good piece. The long spear has something to do with it, and I do like the color blue...the black cape...the shield...I dunno why it's so good! It might be my favorite piece from the Roman theme and it's not even Roman.

I also adore 7460 though I would probably favor the blue guy there, and the woman is cool too. I had her in a bowler hat for a while. If the Gnomes of Zirndorf are listening: please give us a full African tribal theme!

4595 does look darn good. I think I'll get one now.

Back to the Gauls: Since 7923 is (sort of) Abraracourix and two of the figures from 7924 are Asterix and Obelix (sort of), is the third guy from 7924 also a reference to an Asterix character? Does anyone who is more familiar with the comics recognize him?

The two other warriors that stand out in the village, are Cétautomatix (the blacksmith), and Ordralfabétix (the fish seller, who doesn't see the link between his fishes and the sea). So pick your favourite!

But neither of those characters look anything like the third 7924 guy. The blond 7924 is Asterix, fat redhead is Obelix. The third man has black hair, black trousers, pale yellow arms and an armored chest.
