Title: Klickypedia, the Playmobil Pedia
Post by: Yoyei on November 18, 2014, 08:21:07
Hi everyone,

Some of you already know me, I am the administrator of Playclicks, reference website for Spanish-speaking fans and one of the oldest Playmobil websites (12 years old!).  :hatoff:

Since 2007 I had in mind a huge project, perhaps too pretentious for its time. Today, after years of planning and more than a year of hard work in which I have invested all my spare time, that collaborative tool for fans where we can publish and edit content ourselves, is already finished. :**:

Klickypedia is the place in which the international community (translated into 4 languages) can create the Playmobil library of our dreams. I am extremely happy to create a website where fans around the world can participate to extend our passion for Playmobil.
www.klickypedia.com (http://www.klickypedia.com)

This tool, for which I have already in mind new features for the version 2.0, provides much more than meets the eye and it is based on 4 pillars as shown on the homepage:

**Sets**
They're here, all Playmobil sets organized and cataloged like you always wanted; by release year, themes, tags, promotional,…
And the search engine of our dreams  :yup:

**Reviews**
Write a review of your favorite sets and in your language. Rate, write and advice on any reference you choose.

**Wiki Articles**
Any self-respecting encyclopedia becomes large through knowledge, and that is the purpose of this place: Playmo-Knowledge
The perfect place to teach and Learn.  ;)

**My Collection and Trades**
Have you always wanted to organize your collection? Now, with a simple click you will have any Set in its place (my collection or my wishlist), even for trading (my trade list)!
You can include lot of information of your favorite Sets  :)9

In Spain and Germany it's been a great success and I would like to present it in other countries, but first it is important for me to show it to Playmobil and also to get your opinion, putting me at your disposal for any questions or suggestions you may have.

Thank you for your attention. I hope that so many years of enthusiasm and these last months of complete dedication will be appreciated by the world community of fans and of course also by Playmobil

looking around, is there a way to translate all the reviews to a different language? also does one need to be "'logged" to view content?

Klickypedia is designed to enable users to write in their own language and easily find reviews by language.
Do you think it might be interesting that each review shows a google translate button, for example?

also does one need to be "'logged" to view content?

No, you do not need to be logged to view content, only it is necessary to create/edit sets, add them to your lists or write reviews.  ;)

Congratulations, Yoyei - this is a great achievement!  It must have been a huge amount of work to put this all together and I believe that Playmofans everywhere will appreciate everything you have done and also make very good use of Klickypedia.  I think it is a great idea to set up your site as a wiki using crowd-sourcing to obtain additional data.

I have already signed up to be a member.  :xmascheer:

Congratulations, Yoyei

This is a very good site and I'm already using it. Perhaps you can somehow link the sets also to PlaymoDB description of parts (and vice versa). Also as it has been suggested a Google translate button would be useful.

Very nice work indeed!  :thanks:

A great idea. I've done a lot of work with the Toy Animal Wiki so understand the benefits of a shared project like this one. I see a few places where I can contribute eventually so have joined.
I agree that a PlaymoDB link would be useful. It should be fairly easy to code in so all you would have to do is add the set number. You could talk to Heather about the best way to format an URL for it.

Thank you very much for your suggestions!

Yes, it is a very good idea to link to PlaymoDB parts and, of course, a google translate button. Thanks
Noted on my to do list!  :)9

wow  :cracker: :omg: <:>
that's very nice indeed Yoyei, must have been a lot of work.

a small tip: would it be nice if all the review titles etc. were done in 1 language? for example english?
Most websites prefer the use of 1 language just for uniformity and usebility.

Thank you very much again!

a small tip: would it be nice if all the review titles etc. were done in 1 language? for example english?

Thanks for the tip, PlayMoto.
I think that it is important that everybody write in the language they feel comfortable. For example, there are lots of spanish reviews created in Klickypedia, if those users had been forced to write in english perhaps some of the reviews never had been published.
In Klickywelt, as another example, it has been very well received German as one of the available languages by default because some colleagues do not speak English.
A google translate button could fix the problem may involve reading reviews or wiki articles in a language that we do not speak. What do you think?

Well done, Yoyei, very nice format! Great to see other people applying their skills, to make more information available to fans. I'm up for back-and-forth linking with PlaymoDB, shouldn't be too hard. We'll talk soon!
