(and yes, another dragon review)
This is yet ANOTHER new dragon. As I said before, I like dragons, but there are far too many.
As happens with many, the movement is a bit off, since instead of the jaw moving, it's the head that moves.. And as someone mentioned, you can see the inside of the head from behind. Very very very odd. Disturbing.

Anyways, besides the large dragon, there is also a golden egg and a baby dragon - very very cute. We bought 5 of those cute little guys sometime ago... Productive egg!

The firey nest is an amazing piece!

The knight.. a mix of light and dark armor... and prince hair. Uhm. That's another mystery - why so many warriors have that girly hair?

Thanks for the additional views. Any chance of a photo comparing it to the good dragon? You know the one I mean.

I think this is a great looking dragon. I would like to see it in new colors also.

Additional pics probably only on the weekend..
As to the dragon.. Uhm... they're all good to me - which one do you mean? The first one?

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO - enough dragons for a few years! Give my poor wallet a rest :P
-
Six baby dragons, cuteness overload! :)
That torched patch still burning in places is a really nice touch to this set, yes.
I spent some time on Animobil comparing all the dragons (thanks, Tim!) and I'm convinced: for me this one is the best one so far.

Its from the same mold as the ostrich nest, but in black. Still, looks great.

I meant the first really big black one from 4838 in 2009. Its still my favorite so far.
-
I like how you fixed the dragon slayer. Gues I'd probably go with a knightlier helmet design but in full light armor he looks much better.
Never understood why they often mix different armor colors in plate armor suits.. it looks weird.

Hadn't realized that - thanks for pointing it out. I think it is very effective, a real eye catcher.

Ah, ok... Like I said probably on the weekend - remind me if I don't post them? :-[

Me neither... I mean I had to use slightly lighter arm things, cause I don't have those in the "normal metal color". But their parts bins should NOT have that problem, right?

Compare pics with the black dread ;)

Well, the black one is indeed HUGE.
Articulation wise, the new one has that interesting joint in the hands.. and the tail rotates.
The black one moves the neck up and down, and the new one the head up and down.
Both move the arms, legs, wings and the upper part of the head (silly).
The black one looks better from behind (can't see the insides of his head!).. both have the wings way down on their bodies for my taste.
That black one is still my favorite.

I'm still in favor of the green one.
I would not dare say otherwise or the real life version of this green dragon would eat me alive next time I visit the "Efteling"

Oh my, nostalgia!!! Thanks for that picture, Rhalius
I vote for the green one, definitely. But it's very interesting to see the two together for comparison. Thanks Tahra :) I do agree the black one looks better from behind/above.

Who's that?

There's not really a story behind the dragon as far as I know, he guards the treasure chest below him which is normally not tied up but open and filled with gold. there is a bracelet or crown in there that you can try to push if you dare, it will make more noise if you do I think.
Here's a short video of the attraction.

The entire park is filled with such electronic creatures and many fairytales. Its a very beautifull theme park and the dragon is one of its most iconic attractions.
It's strongly thematic and filled with great innocent fun for children and the whole family.
Opening in 1952, it's one of the first theme parks and always kept expanding.
I'd go as far as to recommend anyone visiting the Netherlands to pay the park a visit. It's truly a magical place.

That black sinister one is our favorite in this household of boys

Wow.. so cute - and he does look like the new one....

Thanks for the explanation - sounds like a great time!

Thank you so much for the review and the comparison. I love both dragons, but the babies always make us happy. I have a 3 yr old who expects ALL playmobil animals and other fauna to have a mommy and a baby. So glad they are laying eggs!

Well... let's say your 3 year old is not alone. But I expect a daddy too!
-
Thanks for the photos Tahra. Definitely some size difference.
The nice thing with the dragons is that you can just get a second for the daddy Dragon.

Considering the gazillion different ones, I had to stop doing that :(
