I am on the lookout for ideas for small Roman/Egyptian-looking civilian pieces for my 5yo daughter who is obsessed with the period (inspired
manipulated by her Playmobil-loving mother...).
Does anyone know if the Royal Ship of Egypt's canopy (ie the tent roof with four poles) can be used as a stand-alone piece? Or does it need some kind of a base to place the poles in for stability? I have seen it used as a market stall in Birdie's lovely Roman harbour town diorama, but can't quite determine its stand-alone potential from the pictures...

It has 4 poles that click to the sides of the canopy and are all the same length so, yes, it can stand by itself.

Great, thank you!

And thank you for the compliment, moreorless :)

You're welcome! I would love to be able to create authentic scenes like that, but I lack the time not to mention the skills... Also, I have to restrain my desire to indulge myself in big Playmobil setups, as I only buy for my daughter, and I think she enjoys her Playmobil world precisely for its randomness and incompleteness... Hence the ship canopy which will probably have a multitude of uses in her various conceptions of ancient times :)
