Chris and I were out and about and we decided to stop in at our local Toys R Us and see if they had anything new. They were having a 20% off sale on items less than $50, and there were also a few things on clearance, so we used a price scanner to check a few prices and were debating what to buy. Then we noticed a really beat up 5923, the smaller TRU exclusive school (exactly like the other, but without the bathrooms), and we thought it might be marked down. So we scanned it. Normal retail price, $105. Sale price $16.80!!!! It was the only one on the shelves, so of course we bought it! Then we decided to just check and see at customer service if they had any more in the back. They did, and they were all marked down to that same price on clearance as they are discontinued. So we got three schools for 50 bucks! All the boxes are beat up, but hey, who cares! We are going to have a blast with all that system x! WOOHOO!!!! :woohoo:

AWESOME deal :)

Wonderful find, Bonnie! You and Chris must have felt so lucky, hope you played the Power Ball in addition as you were on a roll!

Wow now that's a super deal well done :)
-
Good for you-have fun!!! :)

Awesome find!
You will be able to put them together to make a mega-school set.
Or just put two together and give the third away to a very good little child who may enjoy it (I get a lot of satisfaction out of finding inexpensive sets and then gifting them to those who otherwise may not have access to any Playmobil - I have a 3666 castle and a 3269 castle to give to my nephews - I just don't know if I should gift both at once or one for a birthday and the other for Christmas (or Easter).
-
That is a fantastic find Bonnie - well done for spotting it :D
You're going to have great fun using it, I look forward to seeing what you build with it all.
-
Congratulations dear BB
There is nothing like a good bargain

Great deal, congratulations!

We are having a great time with it, too. Chris is building an EMS/fire/police training academy, and it's quite awesome. Will post pics when it's finished, of course!

It makes me want to venture to both Toys R Us near me... Too bad I'm broke lol
-
Congatulations! :clover: you!
Looking forward to impressive buildings.

Too bad I'm broke lol
I hear that! I wish we had more money... could have gotten five more. :-[ On the other hand, we would probably literally drown in system x pieces at that point!

sounds great. That is an incredible deal. I am interested how you are gong to use the parts. Some of them are tricky to customize with.
Did they really have 5 more? I will have to go check our local store and perhaps others as well.
That deal is too good to not at least check the stores.
Thanks for the tip and good luck on the building, share those pictures...please

. . . That deal is too good to not at least check the stores. . .
So true! Bonniebeth's great score sent me to TRU yesterday where I bought even more Playmobil that I don't need ;D. There weren't any schools but I did get 2 FAO soldiers for about $2 each, 2 half-price advent calendars, the big FAO Victorian set for $35, and some Series 4 figures at $2.39 (I will squeeze, poke, and fondle them in the comfort and privacy of my own home, then return any I don't want later. ;))
ToysRUs has lots of sets on clearance now - looks like most of the dinosaurs, some western, and more I don't remember at the mment. If there is a set you like, use the price checker and see if it's marked for clearance. All sets, including clearance items, are still 20% off until Saturday, March 29

nice finds

Yes, we were considering some dinosaurs until we found the schools. There are only two sets from that series I don't have; the one with the velociraptor, and the big T-rex/volcano set.
Ras, yes, they had five more! There was one on the sales floor, and they had seven in the warehouse. The guy who brought them out said he brought the ones that looked the best, and both boxes were very beat up and broken, so the others must look really bad. The pieces inside were fine though. The one on the sales floor had been opened, but nothing was missing.
And I think you'll be quite impressed with Chris's building. I know I am! All those curved walls and specialty pieces are put to great use.
-
IF our store does not have any do you think there is a chance you could pick the 5 up for us? Not super important just wondering. Even though the walls are really thin system x its still great to have the parts. :prays:
I really want to see what Chris made especially the way he used the stairs and the special wall pieces. They annoy me on how to use them.

You all are killing me with your awesome finds! I haven't seen the FAO Schwarz sets at my TRU in a long time. I guess Friday morning after I get off work I am going to venture to TRU!
And now I am hoping that they have the school building (mulitple of them) for that price. I've come up with an idea for it. And I also found that I have a $10 off purchase of $30 or more coupon for TRU that expires Saturday, so I've got to put that to good use :)
-
No clearance in our store, just 20% off all playmo.
Bought the nice yellow take-along Cowboy set.
Bonnie, if you could get the 5 others I would buy them or could I get the TRU sku # off the receipt so I can check if other stores have them. Its usually a state by state thing though :'(
-
Ras, we're still not entirely sure we aren't going to buy the others when we get paid. ;) But here's the SKU: 4008789059239

Great hunting! Kind of jealous about the $35 FAO

Wow, congratulations!
Normal retail price, $105. Sale price $16.80!!!!
:(o): Such enormous discounts are impossible in Belgium, and also in most other EU-countries I think...
-
Wow, that seems like quite the deal! Nice find!

that's awesome!!
I saw one today in B.A. for a $1000 dollars.... so you think I should get it? :giggle: :giggle: :giggle: :giggle:

Thanks for tip. I found the FAO set for $35 at a TRU a few days ago. Sadly, they only had one.

Same here. I had the customer service agent do a store search for more but it was showing up as unavailable, discontinued.
