Title: Kilts and pith helmets
Post by: seawarrior on February 27, 2007, 22:10:24
Hi,
Does anyone know how to make Kilts and pith helmets?
If anybody does could someone explain it to me in steps with
pics? Thanks in advance. :) I'm going to build a highland unit.

This link may help for kilts, but you need to speak German:

http://playmo-convention.de/board/viewtopic.php?t=608

and this one for helmets (although these aren't pith ones (but again any information is in German):

Kilt thread here....

http://www.playmoboard.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=4572&page=3&pp=15&highlight=kilt

Several different methods suggested. (Mine was the simplest, though..... ;D )

Thanks Val, I was going to post that thread for him if somone didn't.

That's the one I made my kilt from and it works well. I seem to vaguely remember your method Val. Something about wrapping real tartan ribbon and snapping into the Klicky's body...no?

Here's mine for referance of the EsDoc method...

Hello, Seawarrior ...

Is this what you're looking for? (see attachment)

You might want to ask your question at GW-PC ... :)
(However, Val's method IS the simplest, as these were cast from moulds.)

All the best,
Richard

Hah, I just knew you painted underwear under your Klicky`s kilt! Not very Scottish, is it?

 ;D

I like your scotsman, Dunc, inspite of his y-fronts. :P

I always wanted to make a kilted klicky but never found the time or quite enough motivation. :-[

Thanks for posting the links to the playmoboard topic. I see it's an old one but it's full of very useful tips. :)9

BTW, Sylvia ...

For those of us who are not Playmoboard members, we are unable to see the images ... :(

So, if someone wants to "grab and post" those fine pictures, so that we can see them here at Playmofriends, it would be much appreciated ... ;)

(I would especially love to see Dunc's RCMP motorcycle again.)

All the best,
Richard

HA hA Ha Val..... it was easier than painting the "other thing"  :-[ ;D

(I would especially love to see Dunc's RCMP motorcycle again.)

I just might be able to do that for a stand up guy like yourself Richard  :)

I haven't looked at those pics myself in a long long time. Good idea you have there. I'll get that up here at PF in the next couple of days.

Hi SW,

The kilt is made of paper from the image provided in the Kilts thread Val posted. I just printed off a page of patterns and coloured them as directed. I used coloured bits of tape for the stripes and then sealed the whole thing with satin acrylic clearcoat after applying to the Klicky body.

It was pretty easy actually and could be made easier if you chose to do so.

Hi,

   I had an idea
to make a kilt though, cut a
dress/skirt in half and cut off
the skin leg part from 4654
pirate and glue the parts together.
 [Just an idea.]  ;)

I just stumbled over this thread and like your kilts very much!
And I read something about the RCMP above and revisited the cool Mountie talk, we had over thre years ago now. Little did I know!!! ::)
Now not only my knowledge has increased, but my troop of Mounites as well.
They are going on display at the Wolfsburg Playmo Convention this year (actually next month!).So watch out for more......
