Hi all!
I've been toying with the idea of constructing a diorama depicting a small scene of the Great Siege of Malta, and I wanted to show you my version of the Knights of Malta.
I hope you like them!
Friendly greetings,
Erik :)

Nice! I will look for these legs now. ;D
But may I suggest something? Don't use the cutlass holder - it covers the cross. Use black belt instead. I would like to see the cross in its entire beauty.
Cheers,
HDL

I like them!
I'm not particularly fond of those legs, actually... but they look good on them!

Nice clear strong design I like the look given to them by the shoulder pads and of course those beautiful helmets :knight:

Very nice custom! :)9
I have to stop seeing Medieval collections and customs. :knight:
It is already missing space in my apartment for my Western collection! :cowboy:
Greetings

I understand why you added the shoulder belt, but like HDL said, it hides the cross. Otherwise, these customs are great, the morion fits these legs which are more from the Renaissance era than high middle ages. And the presence of the handgun dates these knights in the 16th century as well. Nice use of parts.

Very nice later period looking armour! Works very well, I think.

Very nice customs, I like them!!!
George. :)

Very nice.
One question: is the black garb historically correct? I always see pictures of them wearing a red tunic (like grandmaster La Valette for example), and with a straight-edged cross (like the one on the old Maltese knight released years ago) rather than the Maltese cross one: kind of like the Swiss cross, if you see what I mean. And to go against the grain, I do prefer the cutlass belt rather than the normal kind, even if it does cover the chest area.

Very nice.

Nope. But I stubbornly refuse to use non-Playmobil parts, stickers, paint or other materials while customizing, so this earlier (black) version of the Maltese (Hospitaller) knights was the best I could come up with. :)

They look awesome, Erik! :)

Fair enough. That book's great, incidentally.
I wish PM made more of these historically correct knights instead of the stupid fantasy Game of Thrones third rate rejects it peddles nowadays.

I concur completely with the above.
I'd change 1 more thing: if you have black shoulderpads, I'd use those instead of the metallic ones.

Another idea would be to use a ruff (one of those clown-type collars) for some of the knights. It was very popular at the time. And the old rifle from the old arab special makes a good stand-in for an arquebus.

I used these collars for my Papal guards and a platoon of Spanish pikemen!!! :)
