Today HRH the king of the Netherlands and his wife opened a new zoo. It is just a small zoo. But they had a very nice party.
This zoo has big plans for the future. They hope to raise funds so they can give their animals bigger grounds to play and maybe even present some new animals.
We hope you enjoy the pictures!

What a great set up, love all the animals! The ribbon cutting was a clever touch and the penguins are so cute.

Very nice! I love the ribbon cutting. And it's a great zoo, very well arranged. The pelican with the crab in its mouth is cute. Are there people in a boat in the dolphin tank?
-
Thank you!
After setting this up and trying to make nice pictures of it I even got more respect to the ones here who make those big and perfect diorama's and manage to take great pictures of it also. It's not an easy job!
Bonniebeth when I was young I often visited a zoo where they had a dolphin and sealion show. Every time they choose a child to make a ride in a little boat that was pulled by a dolphin. I never did it myself (too shy) but I liked the idea very much.
The king Willem-Alexander and queen Maxima are from a special set (5054) introduced by the installation of our new king and queen last April. He really came with a (police)hat but my son thinks a king should wear his golden crown every day!

That does sound like a really awesome experience!

Great looking zoo! There is never enough space for displays, and if you do get more space it fills up fast and then you are back to not having enough room.
Photography is a whole other subject. You can do wonderful scenes in a small space, you just have to change things a lot to make for bigger concepts and stories.

Beautiful set up! Love the details (a camera running for a royal opening). My mother bought me the royal couple two weeks ago and they're now the king and queen of my daughters wooden doll house.. and the king has a crown as well! ;)
-
What a beautiful zoo :inlove:
Your son is so right about the crown!
I love how the gorilla, giraffes and zebras are watching the ceremony ;D
Which animals are in the bottem left corner enclosure? I can't see.
-
On the left side live the beavers and skunks. I actually don't know if they can peacefully live together. Now that I think about it I don't remember I've ever seen skunks in a zoo. There might be a reason for that.
But these adorable plastic ones are amongst my favorite Playmobil animals.

Wow!! What a great Zoo collection!! beautiful pictures with so many nice details, well done!!!
George. :)

Looks like your zoo's going to do really well judging by the amount of visitors ;) love that it seems so interactive with the keeper who has the monkey on their arm and the lucky and rather brave kdi getting a front row seat of the dolphins great stuff. It's really nice to get a good look at the Royal couple figures as well they look very ncie and well designed :)

I've been struggling with my zoo the past few months. Every time I set it up I find out that there isn't enough room on our largest table. When we put it on the floor we keep on knocking things over crawling between the fences. Besides I'm way too large to make acceptable space in between the enclosures. Troubles, troubles...
For now I decided just to set up small pieces of enclosures and photograph them. We started with our newest purchases the polar bears and the orca whale.
My idea is to follow a little boy, Harry who visits the zoo with his dad. You don't get to see his dad because he's taking the pictures of Harry in the zoo.
I hope this turns out better.
Say Hi to Harry

That looks really good. Zoos are really difficult due to the size you need if you are going to do decent sized enclosures. I've never even attempted to put all of mine up at once.
-
Those polar bears
The best decision concerning Playmobil diorama's I ever made: buy several large chipboards and trestles so you can create the biggest surface possible in the space you have. One big table or smaller 'islands' or a long row against the wall...
But, of course, you'll always want just a bit more :)
-
Thank you!
The chipboards on trestles sound like a good idea, Birdie.

At Munster zoo they organise a daily Penguin walk. They take a few penguins out for a walk. It was so funny and cute.
Harry got to see one to at my zoo.

Cool penguin walk! :)
-
very cute! I love the Penguin walk!
-
The picture with that bear seeing the kid as a snack is pretty funny ;D
And those penguins are the cutest! Thanks for sharing that real life photo too.
-
Great photos and a such a brilliant idea to just follow the one kid it really works to make some really good looking photos, means you can really appreciate the beauty of the animals. They all look good I didn't notice the bear behind the boy too much ;D it's good to see him meeting the zookeeper and seeing the penguin walk :)
-
Fantastic photos and what a terrific collection of animals! Love the detail and the different biomes for each set of animals. :)9

Lovely detailed pics....adorable.

Great pictures, I like the penguin walk and the zoo is beautifull. Seeing Harry on pictures taken through his trip at the zoo brings it all more alive as well.
I am a bit worried about that wolf cage being a safety hazard though, those rocks are pretty high, they might jump over the fence! ;)
