Ahoy me harties !!!!
Finally after many many years of collecting some pirate sets its time to set my small pirate collection up. We are currently at our holiday home at Akrata Greece where we are 50metres from the beach, i cant think of a better place to set me pirates. So today i brought half of my collection from the master playmo den at corinth ( 60min drive from Akrata) and started setting it all up at the 1st floor of our house ( where the guest rooms and Sophie's rooms are , all currenlty not occupied so playmos are taking over this summer this floor   . i watched master and commande also the other day and tomorrow will wtch the goonies
Tomorrow i will bring also the rest of my collection, 4 large pirate islands, couple of small ones, two lighthouses, about 12-13 ships ( only :-\) and a few pirates, a small unit of tall hats etc . reckon will set an english naval base, a spanish one and then a couple of different pireate places/ships etc . started setting things up today will take me a few days to set it all up then will post some pictures etc

Looking forward to the pictures of this small collection! ;)

.... until i have an army of 150+ tall hats and 20+ ships it will be small for me 8} 8} . those who know me i am sure can 'sympathise' with me. i got the plkaymo fever since 5 and the only cure is to buy playmos in excessive numbers .anyways i will be also setting my first and original pirate ship which i have since the late 70s as well as the cannon galleons ( i have the extra cannons to turn them into proper manowars ) , hopefully will have everythign set in tghe next few days
1 english port + 3 cannon galleons ( 3940) + 1 english frigate ( Governor Sir Iseroth's yacht - 3055)
1 spanish stronghold ( two lighthouses) + 3 spanish galleons ( 4290) the formitable spanish captain Don Eseraldo leading )
4 pirate inslands- varius pirates and ships ( various pirate captains and characters)
and a few coconut trees, minkeys, turtles, crocodiles etc etc ....
and a few merchant's ships ( the ' cannon fodder' )
I wish i had some steck houses handy to built a small colony actually but i think as it is i will have a mightmare setting the above up without one ship being on top of the other. i suppose someone has to use a lot of imagination for distances between all tghe above. i think the 4290 is more 'spanish like' and the 3940 more ' english like' so i am gonna gp for that set up ( any suggestions welcomed ) . i dont have enought playmo rocks so i will have to improvise to set some trees up etc ( i promised the wife i wont be drilling the wooden floor though) . anyways , time to get back to setting up. i have two MISB 3940 , these are pretty high value these days , but i think i will be opening them up

If your pirate collection is "small", than mine must be tiny! ;)
Looking forward to seeing pics!

Yes!!! :picsplz:
George. :)

A large ship, a small ship, a few rowboats, the redcoat fort and a tiny island with about 30-40 clickies is the extend of my pirate collection, pretty much what Giorginetto might consider a modest batch coming in from ebay or DS service. ;)

Work is progressing well. I have set up my very first pirate playmobil ship whicvh was a present to me in 1979 or 1980 if recall. still have top bring some more stuff from the master den ( tomorrow) and then i will complete the setting hopefully end of this week. i need to find a way to set the coconata trees up as i have used a lot of their rocky bases in the krull empire . i will be getting some pebbles also from the beack to add some realist to the set up
tomorrow i will bring here my MISB sets and open them , i will open and set everything i got ! :P :P :P
i wish i had more redcoats and some steck houses here etc but i guess i already have no space . anyways , it takes ages with this mobile internet connectin i use with this small sony vaio i use during out holidays to download pictures but i promise i will be posting plenty of pictures when everything is set ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
i need more ships . and tall hats :loco: :loco: :loco: :loco:.. damn it playmobil greece take telephone orders bnow but they are closed till end of august, i wouldnt mind a few dozens of tall hats /royal marines landing on the shores of the Krullian seas

work is NOT progressing well. I had forgotten about some pirate sets i bought 10-12 years ago and i have a floor covered with system x parts ( and i dont exactly love them) , coconuta trees ( over 30 of them ) big berthas, french soldiers, spaniards, english and lots of pirates and what seems to be monkeys and sharkies everywhere. 14 ships all together takes quite a bit of time to redo the ropes etc . awwww i am realluy stressed, this collection was buigger that i thought and i have a week left to set it all up ( not a lot of free time as baby sophis is priority of course , she is 15 months now btw) but i promise will be posting some pics next time me maties....

Relax, this sorting is supposed to be part of the fun. Don't be stressed out because of too much PM :)
Except for the system X parts, I hate those things fiercely too :-\
I was wondering: what is a big bertha?

I was wondering: what is a big bertha?
Come on, putting 300 (yes, THREE HUNDRED) of those blasted little things in the system x holes is supposed to be FUN! FUN! FUN! FUN! FUN! FUN! ::)
The big bertha is that wide cannon from the redcoats (in the previous encarnation, at least) ;)
-
The big bertha is something i never liked actually. its cannonball looks stupid ( as do the current cannonballs in the eg western series ) and it does resembe a mortar gun at all if you ask me. i doubt i will be setting any of them in my set up. i have quite a few proper' old school cannons thank god ( over 50 8})
there was some progress yesterday - still in the shorting phase- will be posting some pics soon regardless of the set up being finished or not . if i dont finish this set up i will leave them as they are and continue next time we come to this place :)
-
what is a big bertha?
In reality, "Big Bertha" is a nickname for a heavy artillery piece used by the Germans during WWI (pic 1), so not sure if it is a very appropriate name for a Playmobil pirates' cannon...
Big cannons allways got special names (often feminine ones  ).
Where I live f.e. we have a medieval (early 15th century) supercannon on display in the city (pic 2), her name is "Dulle Griet", translated as "Tolle Grete" ins Deutsch and "Mad Meg" in English
(Only the gunbarrel is original. A few years ago, some city officials had the luminant idea to paint it bright red, as that is supposedly the original colour it was painted in around ca. AD 1431. ::) )

Thanks everyone :)

Wow sounds like quite a settup you're going to have going there good luck with setting it up mate and try not to keep us in suspense to much longer ;) :arrr: :captain:
-
some progress made tnis week, me holidays are coming to an end this saturday and i will then take pictures of progress regardless , i doubt i will have finished the lot though.
Governor Sir Iseroth is anxious to sent to the seas his ships for some loot , he is meant to be a naval base captain and governor but he is a very evil pirate underneath looting pirates, the french, the spaniards even the english , with his notirious pirate group the seas are never quite !!!   :captain:

Quite a fleet you have there, and lots of pirate clickies waiting for you to put them in their place. :)
-
Wow, very, very impressive pirate collection! It's huge! :o
-
It's fun to see the collection like that: palm trees in rows in the cupboard, all those clickies in a drawer waiting to be played with ;D
As I suspected, this is not a small collection. When you get the time to do something with it, I'm sure it will look stunning.

What a wonderful collection you have Sir George ou should I say Admiral George
