Title: Military Band
Post by: skypurr on March 29, 2013, 22:13:34
One of the dioramas I am planning for Kirkbean is a street with a parade taking place.
One of the items in the parade is to be a Military Band so I have been collecting the guards figures (I think I bought all that were in our local toyshop  )
I had to add a couple of different guards - ones from the Victorian set, and would like your opinion as to whether I should try to get more matching torsos for these ?  (they are the drummers at the moment).  Whatever, I would like to change the epaulettes from blue to white if anyone has a few to spare.   The drum major is also slightly different but I don't know if it is as important to change him or not.

Here are a few photos...

I'd be grateful for any feedback.  :)

good idea Elaine!
(I'm no expert in these 'beef-eaters', only watched them parade once, but I do know that those new ones are Scots, with buttons in groups of threes)
are you hoping to change epaulettes for colour coordination or for accuraccy? Can't be for the later, since youre happy to mix those 3 different torsos

happy Easter everyone! :easterhop: :easterhop: :bunny: :easter: :eggbasket: :eggbasket:

Thank you Cheng
I wanted them to be accurate if possible, but thought the difference might not stand out as much if the epaulettes matched.
However, I didn't know they were Scots   :-[ - that fits in really well with what I want to do.
So. in that case I definitely want to change them.

Now I need to find 4 new torsos and white epaulettes.  :help:

Wonderful idea! Really like all the different instruments you've managed to collect for them.
They will be a really cool addition to your dioramas. :)

They look very smart, Elaine.

The drum major would have a fancier uniform.  Here he is:

And here's a general of the band:

Love this band Elaine.  I would not have noticed the difference had you not pointed it out to me.  Hope someone has the torsos you are looking for.  :crossed:

It's a really great idea!

I don't know anything about their uniforms though... Me, if I couldn't make them all the same (uniform wise), I'f try by instrument type - but I'm not really worried about accuracy (my vikings have horns! :o )

I hope you detwin them all ;)

That would be something to build, wouldn't it.  It's actually the Canadian Parliament building.  Our House of Commons.

Hey Elaine!
Nice band! I'm pretty confident I have one spare white epaulette. Do you want it?
A.
