The dinos, hotel, new harbor, police, etc., are all up where we can see them on the US site now. Also the new add-ons, including the bison and victorian car.
-
that was fast. the museum, model t and old vic guards are out of stock.
-
THey just aren't available yet. Not everything is available as soon as it's listed, but they will be later.
-
great... off to check it out and see the prices.
I really think TRU was able to persuade Geobra to delay releasing the Victorian car so the TRU exclusive Victorian super set would sell better. Cheeky baboons.
-
is it just me and my cheapness or are some of the prices just ridiculously high.
The RC controller that I was buying on auction new for $24 is listed on playmobil's site at $125 :hmm:.
The Spy team assult vehicle is $65 :o
Don't even get me going on the new cargo train theme, the flippin plane is $110 :omg: does it fly all by itself or something ???
Oil is not selling at $300/barrel, yet
As if playmobil does not move slow enough in this country

For me to set up the pink gay hotel the way I want to w/extra floor and extra staff it will cost $500 8}
-
Yeah, that's incredibly expensive. I'm thinking I may wait a while to get the major sets in that theme, though I may go ahead and get some smaller ones like the gift shop and a few maids. The hotel itself is nice, but there's other things I want more, and I may have to wait for it to go on sale.
I see the hospital is indeed gone now. :(
-
Looks like prices are up for almost everything, anywhere from $3 (the $30 sets) to $30 (i.e. the school).
Hotel itself is reasonably priced at $164.99, but for the disco/van/suite, I was expecting more like $40/$35/$60, not $48/$40/$75.
Oh well - still going to get it. Will wait for a 20% off weekend, and that brings the price down to something very reasonable, IMO.
-
I just priced the harbor sets with train and I am looking at $680 8} Yes better wait for a big sale but even if I found it for 50% off that would still be a lot. The biggest problem is the sets look so appealing to me that I want most of them twice.
Yes ma1234...I too think the prices you mentioned sound more reasonable especially the van.
That disco thing looks like it has a speaker or something so I can see how that would be more.
What I really want to know is what will be in the sale areas..last chance...best buys....discontinued...They sometimes find interesting things to list

Love the western stuff. Gotta get me a school and saloon, even though someday I'd still like the OG. Great western add on figures too. The hotel is cool, but wow, not for the price.

Our local TRU had received the main western sets early so they kind of feel old already but those add-ons and the new round of DS voting set look very tempting.
-
The new western buildings, especially the schoolhouse, will be some of the first things I get. Very excited about those!
-
Rasputin. I'm totally with you on the harbor pricing and was a little shocked when I finally saw the US prices as I too already have space made space on our layout for multiples of these sets with a rough tally of over $800 and that only budgets the basic version of the hotel. Now I just need to figure which couple of months I will not be eating any food before the next round of fall train shows.
-
Guess we did not order the green victorian car fast enough again. Its still on the site but the price has been removed and when you click on it is says "The product you are looking for couldn't be identified."
-
??? ??? ??? What is their problem? I don't understand why the US is the only country that can't get that car! Without buying a $150 set, that is....

The only other set that had this (picture up but no price) is the Suburban house and that is on the axing list so I was not surprised about that one.
I just spent an hour building a wishlist using the German Discontinued list and I can see why my wallet jumped out of my pocket yesterday in the middle of a field at the farm, it tried to commit suicide  before I squeezed it to death.
-

Yeah, I've been meaning to make a prioritized list to make sure I buy the oldest/most likely to be discontinued sets on my wishlist first. I did that once before, but going to TRU makes it hard to stick to it.

I use the wish list on the playmobil site.
I know what you mean about TRU. If they have a sale it throws me way off. The western ones did this year and they should be up on the US site for at least 2 years.
-
Yeah, I use the wishlist, too. I just added a whole bunch of new stuff.

I wonder how much shipping would cost of those in the US wanted the car had someone outside the country order 20 or 30 of them and sent here. Like what has been done for some of the unique specials.
-
Maybe someone should post to the Playmobil US account on Facebook with a question about that car.
-
As far as I know, it's still available here. Don't know about shipping to the US. Shipping to me is free for orders over 120 EUR.

That would be a good idea, but only if we can be certain it really won't become available here. If it does, we will have wasted our money on shipping and all. Perhaps asking about it through FB is a good idea. Or maybe through the PCC? Then we could ask if perhaps it will at least be released to PCC members?

I noticed that many of the furniture sets for the suburban house have also met this fate. Makes one wonder! :hmm:

It is indeed awful you guys still can't get the green oldtimer on Playmobil-US... :-\
As FAO Schwarz owns the exclusive rights and complete stock to/of the 5955 Victorian set which also has the car in it - which is why it can't be made available for sale on the PCC - maybe there is pressure not to sell the oldtimer through your DS as long as there are plenty of 5955-sets in US stores... Or could it just be a matter of getting the right supplies from Germany ???

what car? There is not much that Europe does not get and I feel like there is even more unique sets distributed? or are you in a different country and you are talking about the green car that we are not sure if we will get as of now ?

your first guess sounds logically right to me. It may have been a move Geobra also would want to agree to as it would help sales of the victorian super set and keep the special set moving so TRU might want to prepay for round 2 of their exclusive FAO set? Geobra will naturally claim it was a supplies or _____ problem.
I have a feeling it will show up soon enough but it is a pain to deal with when you have to think of scalpers who capitalize on the situation. If the car never gets to the web site then the members in the US have auctions where they start at $35. What I never get is why a brick and mortar store in the US or Europe does not sell at MSRP and ship at cost internationally. They at least are making a sale and just have to deal with a little more paperwork.
-
Are the fairies not coming to the US site?
-
They will be, but they are treating them as regular releases - so they come out here a year after they are released in Germany. The Fi?ures series are unusual in being released world wide the same year. Everything else has the delay.
