Target's only new offerings are three police sets. I did not purchase any of the three because they weren't in my interest nor did I feel they would go for much on eBay(I know the special agent 5790 went for a pretty penny when it was first spotted on eBay though). I don't have pictures but I did spot this auction for one of the offerings.
Swat Water Vehicle (http://cgi.ebay.com/Playmobil-5801-Police-Car-2-SWAT-Team-Members-NEW_W0QQitemZ130064381907QQihZ003QQcategoryZ2575QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)
The price for this one at Target is $9.99. They have another set for $14.99(I think it's a smallish boat but honestly my memory is quite lacking lately! 8}) and the have a police boat which looks kinda neat for $19.99. They seemed to have stocked the shelves with leftover pals which I thought to be a real bummer!

I have some interest in police items, but personally, I prefer my own custom intervention team. :)

I like the helicopter and boat, but I really dislike the mold on the amphibious vehicle for some reason. Too 1-2-3 for me I guess. It keeps showing up too - it's in the Dinosaur series also. I can understand where they are coming from with it - it's off of the Kubelwagon / VW Thing concept. So it makes sense a German company would have vehicles like that. Doesn't look too SWAT to me. The attachment for the underwater motor is a nice touch though.
The paint scheme is interesting - and the decals are a throwback to the older style as seen last in the police motorcycle. It looks like the windshield on the helicopter is tinted. Very useful for a conspiracy theory custom.

Hmm, to be honest, they remind me pretty much on the Antex Police Sets...
Playmobil is very talented in recycling old molds to satisfy extraordinary
wishes on exclusive series... :hmm:
I doubt they will ever release these sets in a german version.
I like the SWAT pal, that guy is kind of cool. But these guys... ::)
The decals on the bulletvests are much too big, I dont know...

:(
the way i see it, they are too realistic and too agressive.
i am a pirate's theme fan so that's maybe my problem.
maybe they will go well in the u.s. market.
i still prefer the "abstract" green german polizei.
they kind of make me think there is no violence.
in a toy world, that makes more sense for me.

Bumping this up beacuse - I found another one from this set series.
My local Fred Meyer store (part of the Kroger grocery chain in the US) has a couple of floor displays of Playmobil. This is new - in the past they have only offered itas a few boxes at Christmas time.
One is the pirates - the same sets currently on release at Target. The other is the police series - the same sets, except there is a Police Jetski - has an officer and is the grey black color scheme like the rest of this series. I will post a pic when I get home this evening. I just happened to spot it this morning when I was in picking up a couple things on my way to work.

Looking forward to it Tim.

Hmm, quite appealing. :)

Yeah interesting. Doesent turn my crank as much as I thought it would, though I can imagine some customising possibilities.

I like these sets. I like the giant badge logo on the vest. It's kind of super-heroish, which is a adjective police deserve. It is a toy. The police projecting more violence than pirates eludes me a bit. The amphibious vehicle is a bit out of place looking for a swat team, but it's cool to me. In toy land, maybe there are warrants served on bad guys with moats ;D
