Title: Yummy Yumi!
Post by: cowabounga on January 01, 2013, 19:40:00
Hey!
Here's an easy custom I've had on my mind for a while. It's the traditional samutai bow, the Yumi; it's unique shape allowed the samurais to shoot arrows while riding on a horse. I just used two basic PM whips. The paint isn't completely done yet, the handle will be black or red.

Hope you like it!

Nice!

I didn't know there was special bow for horseback.. :-[

The large black bow reminded me of Alec's Black Radly, from the Nightrunner series (Lynn Flewelling)

HEY Arnaud! I missed this thread....I must blame the title (I read "Yummy Yum!" thinking it was some children custom at the ice cream cart.
I have often thought of making this bow and spraying it with short alternate black & white sections
or with red & white sections.
I only dare think of these difficult customs and parts but you, Arnaud, you just make them whenever you feel like it!! BRAVO  :xmascheer:
I know I've been talking about japanese fighting monks for ages and something tells me you might beat me to it, only IF it interests you ;)

Well, as it happens, I have a brand new resin part to show you…. I originally designed it for Persians, but it could for fighting monks, I guess. Pics will follow.

night falls in kuala lumpur but curtains just raised on fighting monks  KIREII!!

Arnaud, your creation is so versatile; it can be used for fighting monks, ninjas, Tuaregs and desert S.A.S.  ;D
I wonder if the 'desert rats' and afrika korps wore them too!

are you going to stick to this prototype?
if youre making another version, how about bigger face holes to still show off klicky faces and skin colour? and if you extent the neck covers a bit, its still good, we'll be able to turn ever so slightly but good enough for poses.

...so we'll move on from samurai armies to monks and ninja? (they also fought in samurai wars except that they are often sent in to create havoc from inside the castle just before attacking it

As you mentioned, this prototype is very versatile by itself, so I think I won't do another with a different shape. Malone's foulard (scarf) is complementory enough, I reckon.

thats good rationalisation, Arnaud! sometimes less choices of the same thing si better and your talent can be used for other parts...I thought of one for you yesterday but forgot what it was and will email you when I remember :P
