Well, as some of you may know i collect 2 different themes from Playmobil. That's 3 actually to be totally honest:
- Playmo motorcycles (mostly emergency vehicles related)
- Playmo traffic/road maintencance/highways agency vehicles
- ..and everything else i think the kids may or may not like :P
I'm an Inspector at the Dutch Highways agency called Rijkswaterstaat and i patrol the highways on a daily basis and in a full duty roster (24/7).
This spiked my interest in all emergency vehicles, especially motorcycles because i'm one of the original first 10 patrolofficers at Rijkswaterstaat on a motorcycle. Right now there are about 35 collegues on motorcycles throughout the Netherlands.
Here's a picture of me on my bike at work:
My job also spiked my collectors nerve on Highways agency related stuff, like the 4043 workshed (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=4043), 4046 snowplow (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=4046), 3454 snowplow (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=3454), 4049 roadworks trailer (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=4049). But also the 3257 roadbarriers (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=3257) and much much more. (edit: i don't own all of these yet, but i'm working on it :-[ )
Anyhow, i was going to add some pics to this simple story. However, my pc is a bit reluctant and so seems the Pf photogallery. I will update this topic with pics later, just received some awesome additions yesterday and i know 3 very much wanted ones are on the way in the mail :-)

That's an interesting job you have, Martin, and it must add to the interest by being able to link it to Playmobil.
-
Sounds cool bet, yo've got quite a collection of motorbikes, the Snowplow looks really cool I got the figure in the red tshirt from the workshop set at our local market (solves that mystery ;)) really like him :)
-
Very interesting. I like the police bikes too and have most of them.
Your work bike looks great. I really like the yellow striping. You should do a custom of it some time.
-
Yesterday a big box wa delivered at my door :welcome: <:>

At first i only wanted the police & the big blue tourer bike, but the others are also pretty good and i could get them in one swoop for €30
Well, reviews of the sets will follow later on.
Next, my wife was so lovely to pick up 2 used vitrines for me just this afternoon, which i found on an online marketplace (Marktplaats) just yesterday night for €40!! Now i can store my klickies and their bikes nice and dry :woohoo:
I tried to make some pics with my phone of the bikes inside, but that will have to wait ::)

Nice collection. :)

-
Also got some more nice additions to my collection the last 2 weeks (and there are still 4 great sets on the way ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ) :

Thanks. Indeed, it's the 4077 ADAC motorcycle (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=4077), got that a couple of years ago. I think it was a Germany special (for the ADAC off course).

Thanks - real nice klicky... I actually love the ADAC vehicles.. basically because they're yellow :-[
-
well, to be honest the 2 ADAC recovery vehicles are very great. I bought them because of the link to my job, but they're actually very good and have a very high play value. ...and indeed they're yellow lol. (the bike isn't though... ::) )
-
Nice collection you have there!
The Lego fire station brings back memories too :)
-
Great collection of Motorbbikes they're really nice I've got one of the 1980's/1990's ones it's a really cool set :)
-
Last week the parcelservice brought some nice new additions for my collection.
First a MIB set 3494 (http://www.playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=3494):
hmm pics are even worse then i expected, i'll have to get some new ones :hmm:
Also got a MIB 4262 (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=4262). pics coming later

That's a wonderful collection you have, Martin :xmascheer:
I love the way you have displayed them in those cabinets of yours
I also love the ADAC theme, although I haven't got the full set. That ADAC motorbike is a great little set, especially with having the female rider.
Btw, what the bike like in the 'classic wheels' box behind the motorbikes. Is it as detailed as the Harley (type) bike on the front?
Damo <*)
-
Great collection, congrats. Many thanks for sharing.
George.

Thnx all.
No, that box needs another place probably. It's a gift i got from my mom a long time ago, it's a limited edition puzzle in a tin-box. Very nice one.
These 2 ADAC vehicles are 2 seperate sets, there is another complete superset (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=5011), including a plane, but that one doesn't include the service car 4071 (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=4071), but the 4078 (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=4078).
For me it's all about the motorcycles and what's related to my job. Also have the 3992 (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=3992) bike repair shop MISB, still very much in doubt if i should open it :-[
I'm still looking for some rare and different motorcycles, like the ones from the US police sets like:
Also for some older klicky sets, like the 3488;3401;3231 and 3232.
When i buy those sets, i can give the stations to my kids and keep the bikes ;D ;D that will keep my wife happy :P
-
Hi Martin, you have the one from 3623. It's the Harley style with the darker paint on the windshield.
-
The bikeshop is a nice set. Comes with all kinds of tools too aside from the two nice looking bikes. :)
For some reason I was collecting playmobil bikes as a kid too, they seemed cool. Now I am sticking to medieval and pirates though. :knight: :captain:

Well, here's an update on my collection. Still waiting for some more special bikes coming, but that won't be a problem.
Just bought me another display-case just as i have now, just need to pick it up next week.
Also figured i could make a split level in the cases with a glass-plate. That would greatly increase my room for the bikes
Not all my new "normal"bikes are in the display-case, due to lack of room.
Okay, first some updated pictures:
Overview of the bikes:
Police Bikes:
Emergency and touring bikes:
What i found comparing the two gray police bikes 4262 and 5180 is that the latter one, clearly is less in quality and look&feel. It's more plain as the 4262. Here's a picture from the side of the 2 next to eachother:
-
:hmm: :hmm: :hmm:
this is weird, look:
The grey bike has a number plate on the rear: 4262, the box says 4261
The white version has license plate nr: 4261 and the box is 4262.
PM mixup ?! :eh?:
I was selling off some redundant 4261's and one person mailed me saying i got it wrong. Now i was looking at my own pics and something triggered me, but i couldn't quite grasp it, untill i looked at both bikes and boxes. weeeeeeiiiiiiird......
-
You have a very impressive and very well displayed collection there, Martin.
Of the modern police bikes, I think I still prefer the one at the end on the right. I have about four which I have customised with striping and POLICE signs and blue lights.
-
I also see the rear luggage rack with the flashing light is quite different from the picture on the box. Must have been a picture of the prototype.
It is a very nice collection of bikes. Lots of variations and variants made over the years.
-
Nice you're making me like bikes even more now you've got some sweet ones in your collection including the nice british 1980's/1990's Police bike which I've also got a nearly complete one of, I like the suit on the modern red bike and the guy on the yellow bike with the bright scarf :)

thank you. Yeah the 3986, it's one of easiest to find bikes. It's indeed a very nice and also good icon for a policebike. I think that one is more easily/clearly recognized as such. The other ones i like very much and are very iconic as US bikes are the two on the left, the Harleys  set 5891 (black cop) and 3564 (blue cop)

Ah yes, i'm proud to have those, with the original boxes and sticker sheets :-)
The original police bike, i think you mean the green Klicky bike 3572? The others are the 3565 race-motorcycle and the motorcycle from the 3231 set. Those are both nice bikes indeed.
I've found another of these display-cases on MP and getting it soon for only €10. Looking to get a glass shelve for each case, so i can make split-levels. The shelve would be approx. half in depth of the case, so it would display nicely :-)
-
21-6-2013 update:
I have mounted the custom made glass-shelves inside my cabinets and placed some new additions inside. Not all the bikes have been unpacked or arrived, so it's not complete. Also still going to upload some reviews and topics to my new additions thread. Gotta make some better pics too ::) :hmm: :(
Most likely the the policebikes still need more room, so everything will shift one more to the right.
Also haven't fitted the last glass-shelve in the most left cabinet. Might get the LEGO-ships and car out, if needed. So options enough.

New additions to my collection, first up some new trucks:
Like new 3454 (http://playmodb.org/setpics/3454.jpg):
No instructions sheet, still looking for that.

furthermore the following sets:
3476 like new(with original box), 4046 MISB, 4083 MISB, 4323 MISB and the 5640 MIB. Pictures of these will follow later on.
-
Your custom cases (and collection!) are really nice! :)
-
 :cham: :woohoo:
YESYESYESYEEEESSSSS: I got them all three: 4083 Karstadt truck MISB, 5640 delivery truck MIB,
and and and and and:
The 6349 new delivery truck from DS. Review will be coming up later this week.
-
The glass shelves makes it so much better! :)9 :)9 :)9
BTW what are those building on the top? IS it Lego? ???
-

thanks, the cabinets do look a lot better and have more capacity now.
I had it planned as soon as i saw them, but needed to find a good and reasonable priced glass-supplier. He made them custom for this ;-)
and they do fit nicely ;D
Yep, that's my other hobby. My wife told me to let them stay up there, because she likes them. That are just a couple of my custom firehouses, made after Dutch real life examples. Haven't done anthing with the Lego in a long time. :-\
more because of my agitation with the commercial direction Lego is going right now. (all the Star Wars and other comics junk...) >:(
I do like the 2013 sets more, they are more about the play value out of the single box, instead of needing to buy more boxes to be able to play.
-
This is a wonderful display! :)9. The Shell station is super, haven't seen that before. Like the Lego as well. Nice arrangement all around.

Joe
I think so too... that SHELL station is AWESOME!!!
-
Gotta agree that display looks very smart great way to show off your collection and looks as though it doens't take up to much space either. Love both those sets the colours and elegant simple design of that old set a Bullldozer is it? is lovely and it looks like new but, that Shell garage set I remember seeing that or something similar in my old catalogues seeing it in the flesh (well sort of) it looks beautiful very detailed with all the little writing and pumps and petrol prices etc. it's well equipped and nice figures with it as well :)
-
Great display!! And that gas station is sooo nice
Do you have every PM motorbike ever made? It looks like it 8-)
-
 thanks all.
@DrDalek6:
Nope that isn't a bulldozer, it's the Snow Clearance Vehicle set 3454 (http://playmodb.org/setpics/3454.jpg)
@Birdie:
Not yet :P (but i'm getting there ;D  ) (NOTE to SELF: Stop buying.... :-[ 8} :help: :prays: )
I'll do a review of the gas-station, it's great. So much stuff and details. :)9
There's actually another, smaller version too, but that's not so nice as this one.
I also bought the earlier version (still in transit), the 3437 Shell (http://collectobil.com/catalogue/items/3437.htm) MISB :-[

JAY! today two small boxes arrived, i had been waiting for a while for those.
First up the 3915 USA Special Police motorcycle, so proud i got that MISB for a reasonable price!
BUT, i would have thought this motorcycle would carry the number 1915 on the plate, NOT. :hmm: ::)
It is 3986 just as the "regular" version. So that answers my earlier questions about this. Well it goes back in the box and in the display ;-)
Secondly i got a deal on the 7528 red-trike MISB:
Third unpacked motorcycle:

Reviews will follow shortly.

Ah cool my mistake that's what I need to get my men for winter time alogn with a vehicle to put some grit in then they can help us clear the snow from the paths in comfort and style instead of pushing loads of wheelbarrows up our steep hill ;) nonetheless it's a great vehicle. The earlier version you've shown in the photo looks like the one I'm thinging of it always looked like a great set it would be nice to see it in closer detail.
Those new set all look really good ncie layout on the MIB police bike the hippy style one loooks quite good but, that new Polcie one is the one which really caught my eye loooks like nice colours and design and plenty of accessories which make it good value :)
-
Wow, that Shell station is a fantastic find! This seems to be the only type of licensing playmobil has done -- automotive-related brands. Congratulations on finding it MISB! Btw, those gas prices on the sign make it quite a relic, don't they?
-
That's a great haul! I quite like the red trike... We have a couple of the more common one..
-
the Shell gas station is by far my favorite gas station of all the ones PM has designed :)

If it's per litre then they're rather contemporary for here.
I always took the pricing to be in litres as a kid - but showing the high price of fuel in Europe, not the inexpensive price in Canada.
If it were from the USA and gallons, yeah, I can see it being old.

Do you have all the motorcycles? :)
Can you post more detailed pics of that tent please? I was considering it, but it's expensive, compared to the other one.. and I'm not very impressed with it so far..
-
Not yet, but i'm getting there. Some new ones are still en-route. Rasputin also has got some sets at his house, which i'm desperately waiting for :-\
Still looking for some very hard to find sets. Got a couple of sets still in boxes upstairs, just no time to unpack them yet.
Also some reviews coming up for the sets, also of the new camper, that tent is nice.

Wonderful additions!! You got some very nice sets, congrats. Many thanks for the pictures.
George. :)
