Title: Birdie's ZoO
Post by: Birdie on November 02, 2012, 19:30:22
One year ago I got the Asian zoo for my birthday and it triggered something in me  ;D

I've always wanted to create my own zoo and now I finally found the sets, space, time and *funds* to make it happen. Had lots of fun planning and arranging everything, and here's what I came up with.

Some overview pictures:

The quality of the photo's is low because there wasn't enough light - maybe I'll find the time to reshoot it before I put it all in the attic once again, at the end of the week.

Wow, it's huge.  It's too bad we all don't have an extra floor to leave up awesome creations like this.  I really dig the buffalo enclosure with the westerny feel.  Very nice zoo.

Oh no, we don't have an extra floor. This is the living room. The sofa's are neatly stacked outside the frame ;D
That's why I need to take it all down again soon before the holiday's over.

Right! Especially knowing what we know about it!

Very lovely!  It makes me excited (and anxious) about some of the new releases for next year here in the US (the new Penguins, hopefully the WWF sets) and aboard (I REALLY REALLY can't wait to get my hands on the Swiss sets for the new animals there). Then all I will need to track down is some of the fencings and I can build my zoo!

Thanks everyone!

The bridge is for dramatic effect  ;D

(and I think I saw an intruder!!)

Do you mean the gorilla? Or the giraffe in the back? Both are from Fisher Price, well spotted :)
I've had them since I was a kid and I thought they deserved a good home.

Hadn't seen the giraffe!

I'm sure they all get along, right? ;)

Thank you, George!

You could keep looking at the zoo... it was a buzzing place. Bit sad it's almost gone now.

What a great zoo you have created. I like how you incorporated the unconventional  building into the dio.

I know our family would be on that bridge jumping up and down

I had to chuckle when you said you had to stack the couches to the side.

;D that's my favorite pic too!
Amazing dio!

I must confess I like the zoo theme more and more.... it was bonniebeth's amazing diorama and video last year which started it.

Birdie, you are not helping me to keep me from collecting another theme!  !

Glad I could inspire you! And apparently give a few ideas other people liked enough to use. ;)

Me too, I got my first zoo set after I saw Bonniebeth's zoo for the first time and I got hooked   It has definitely been an inspiration!

Plus we like visiting zoo's a lot. In Antwerp we use the zoo as our 'extended garden' since we have no garden ourselves. The themed buildings are used there too (zoo of Planckendael just added a new elephant wing that is Asian-based, really cool!). The foxes are a tribute to my favourite animal there.

But now it's all gone, the sofa's are back were they belong - no trace of PM whatsoever  :toot:

Wow that is a really amazing zoo love the different environments in the enclosures and the way it sort of looks like a cross between a zoo and a theme park if you know what you mean it's brilliant some great humurous touches as well   :)
