Does anybody know if Playmobil considers the babies interchangeable? In at least three sets, I've received a boy, when the baby pictured on the box is a girl. This disappoints me as I prefer the girls. I like their hair style more and the shape of their mouths.
It makes me feel as though my sets aren't properly complete. Especially when the baby doesn't match the one on the instructions. Is it hit or miss? If I order the same set again is there a chance I'll get the girl? Or, is it a mistake on the boxes?
Also, I was happy to finally get a Caucasian black haired baby in the recent rocking horse special. But, we still need a blond! Or, is there one that I'm not aware of?

Nope, there's never been a blonde, or a redhead. :( And only once has there ever been a black baby. I've always considered the babies with the side-part to be girls, and the others boys. But if that's the case, Jesus is a girl in the nativity sets! So perhaps they are considered interchangable. :-\ And sometimes the babies I consider boys have flowers on their clothes.

I have two African American babies and I love them! But I too want a red haired or a blond one (and an asian too).
I never know if they're boys or girls either...I guess that depends on each person's imagination. ;D

I actually like the face better on the ones I consider girls. My first playmo set had one of those in it, and I fell absolutely in love with that adorable little face, it's so cute! But now the "boys" have a more classic klicky face, with a smile, and I don't think it's as cute on a baby. Girl on the left, boy on the right:

I love the more boyish baby. However, the left one could be used more in the Victorian era and the middle ages...so I love both. But they are quite expensive getting through DS as parts, matching the prices of those adults with less prints

i agree on the smile thing :yup:

By that dichotomy, mine are all girls! I guess those were the first released. Historically, babies pretty much had the same haircut and clothing, regardless of gender, so the longer haired one works fine for the Nativity and other ancient/historical sets.

and if you need any particular baby, just make a composite picture and I'll see if I can custom one and post to you (I do have some PM babies I dont play with )

The babies (even the ones whose legs cannot move) have always had the 'girly' haircut until a certain point. So to me, they're not girls :)
I'd love to see more variation in the hairstyles and skintones too!

I agree that there should be more variation so that you can create better families I have very rarely seen babies with any hair colour other than brown although there's a few with black hair and dark or white skin. I like the babys with the normal hair cut more I don't consider them to be a specific sex they can be either boy or girl, I was surprised when I saw that the baby I got with one of my sets had a different coloured body than pictured :).
