I've been toying the idea of creating a fountain... so, here it is, water and all... enjoy!

Magnificent custom project, EmGee :wow:! Very realistic! The water is a fantastic effect!

:omg: That's awesome! Yes, how did you do the water? I've been wanting to make a fountain out of my bronze elephant, plus some other fountains I have planned, but have been stumped on how to do the water.

very beautiful creation

Thanks Elaine... here are a couple of closeups of the water.
I used this product to create the standing water in the fountain. Pros: it's inexpensive (under $4), dries crystal clear. Cons: it takes FOREVER to dry, specially when using lots of it, like on the bottom bowl of the fountain.

After I had the body of the fountain assembled, I just filled up the bowls with the sealant, straight from the tube... just had to smooth it out a bit.
Now, for the falling water I used my warm glue gun. Just squeeze out a thin line of glue on wax paper and let it dry. It peels off easily when dry, which only takes a couple of minutes. trim to the desired lenght and attach to the fountain using some of the existing "water". The only thing I didn't like is that the glue tends to get cloudy/milky when it dries. Because of this, my S.O. called it the "Snot Fountain"... :-[ I haven't tried using the sealant for the falling water... I'll have to see how that works.

The rest of the fountain is pretty straight forward... lots of textured spray paint and a glue gun. :)

This is cool-looking; nice job! ;)

I like the use of the elephant platform for that bottom bowl. :)9

I almost used the kiddie pool from 4864 for the bottom bowl, but the elephant platform worked better... plus, duplicating the blue, plastic water from the kiddie pool for the other bowls in the fountain would've been impossible.

This is sooooo beautiful
Very beautiful work!!! Thank you for these pics and for sharing this techinic!!!

Very cool fountain, the water looks great!

Thanks for sharing your great ideas, i do wonder if the
silicone (what ever it is) will ever dry at the bottom of the upside down stand, it is so thick and needs air to dry
Have you tried to use the same Liquid Nails product to make the falling water? It may stick to the wax paper so maybe oiling it before hand will help it release when dry ??

That is going to take AGES to fully cure, if it ever does. And no, I haven't tried the Liquid Nails for the falling water... definitely something to look into. I even thought about attaching a frosting piping tip to the tube of Liquid Nails, to see how it comes out...

You need to fill the bowl in shallow layers, allowing each one to dry before adding more.

Sweeeeeet !!!! Really like the water effect !!!!!

That's an excellent custom, EmGee.
For water you could try "Scenic Water" which is reusable and "Solid Water" which is a two-part resin and described as "crystal clear". You can also use two-pack clear epoxy glue for water quite effectively.

This is so creative, EmGee! I am not familiar with most of the parts you used to build it, but you did a great job of assembling it! :)9 It will be a beautiful centerpiece wherever you decide to put it.

Thanks Joe... here's a breakdown of the parts I used for the fountain:
A - The base is from the Airport Tower 4313 (although you can find the same piece in other sets, in different colors).
B - The supports are from the Super Set Dream Garden 4137 (again, this item is common on the fairy/princess sets).
C - Large Seahorse from the Mermaids Set 5002.
D - Pedestal from the Baby Elephants/Circus Set 4235.
E - Gold Basin is part of the fountain on the 4137 set.
F - Large Cilinder, from the Dog Circus Act 4237.
G - Coral, is from the same 5002 Mermaids set.
H - Dolphin, I don't remember what set I got this from, but dolphins are available from many different sets.
Like I mentioned, most of these items are also available from other sets, but these are the ones I snatched them from. :)

Ditto :) :)

It's beautiful! The dolphins at the top look awesome, and the water looks great :)

OMG that's such an awesome custom!!! :o  very original, thanks for sharing!

That's a beautiful creation, EmGee! So much imagination in using the various parts and the water looks great! Perhaps Gordon's suggestions could replace the falling water glue, thus eliminating the "snot water" look, although it doesn't look too bad as is. :)
