Title: The best surprise ever!!! or... Future Planet
Post by: Wolf Knight on April 06, 2012, 14:12:01
Last weekend I was in Athens on family business... I was hoping to meet Giorginetto but he was occupied at his playmoden, so going to the funpark alone wasn't seen as much fun as meeting with him as well...

Anyway, I get into the Funshop and the person who is in charge there, tells me he has something for me...  ???
He handed me a bag filled with the following:

:o :o :o I could not believe my eyes!?!?!? ''What are all these for?'' I asked? Ingo, the guy in charge, said ''There is a card inside''

Opening the card I read:

Still I could not believe my eyes!!!

Truth be told, I am currently facing various difficulties, of personal, financial, and professional nature, so I kinda drifted a little bit away from Playmobil... Sure I was working on various projects but I was not feeling very enthusiastic about it... in some ways I kept pushing them away... This surprise cheered me up, helped me realise again how much playmobil is part of me, how much frustration, anxiety, and stress I am relieving through Playmobil... Being able to create my worlds were things make more sense than the real crazy world out there is a constructive way of gaining strength and build up defences for the everyday real life battles out there...

I can't thank enough my dear Playmofriends who made me realise how much I need playmobil in my life, that I must not push them away, that I need to keep fighting through them... Thank you my friends! I cannot describe my great appreciation for this surprise!!!

The next pics...and they are quite a few... are for you  :) :) :)

First... a small photostory...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Once upon a time, in a future not so far away....

A group of klickies are settled in a remote planet of their system... their mission: make it inhabitable by using the latest technology of terraforming

Tom's Turbojet has just landed...

...and the little servodroid is immediately all over it checking for any service the may be needed...

In the ground, two Collectobots are gathering the precious red crystals that are used as fuel for the E-Ranger terraforming station and vehicles...

Rob and Lex are checking the crystals..

and another servodroid is revealing some more hidden crystals

In the station, Jack and Fiona are anxiously awaiting Tom's return..

Tom looks at the ramp and he feels quite tired to walk it...

good thing for the rolling floor mechanism and the automatically revolving doors  ;D

Once inside the station, Jack, Tom and Fiona are reviewing the servodroid's report on the Turbojet service

But high above the Station, a certain Speed Glider spies on our heroes...

...and once it gathers the information it needs, it quickly speeds away...

Who knows what adventures the E-Ranger's will be up against in this new planet... Only the future will show  ;)

I was thinking that Geobra is pushing the envelope even more than ever with all the lights, electrical gadgets and now laser tag games in this theme. At one time playmobil never wanted to have sound and lights but over time they started making the police/fire theme with lights. They recently even added the sounds to the Chinese versions. Now with all these electronic features who knows where they will stop  :-\

I do like all these sets but maybe less electrical features. The old space sets had all the lights also and was received very poorly. I do not know I guess until I have them in my hands

We may be nostalgic of the old playmospace, but the current kid generation is extremely fond of all the gadges and electronics... I observed that the future planet sets are selling like hot cakes in the toystores... boys seem they can't have enough of it. An uncle of mine gave me a call two weeks ago and asked in which toyshop he can get all the sets for his two boy grandchildren ... lucky kids  ;D And a friend of mine has twin sons and they already got the whole series... he said its nice to see them off Playstation for a change. So it works for the kids.

Once again, its not what we adults want... Playmobil is making it clear they only care about their children market pool.

Oh I know the kids will love this stuff, when my sons saw them almost a year ago they got so excited about the theme. They still are patiently waiting for their release and have lists of sets they want. For some reason this theme seems very heavy on the electronics to me, which is unlike any we have seen before. I guess it is just shocking to me, similar to how the Pirate theme collectors felt when the skull and cross bones started to dominate or when the RC trains took over the LGB etc.......

Now that I have seen those bots out of the box I think I want dozens of them  ;D I wonder if you could repaint them to look Star Wars-ish, because I see some one in here doing customs very soon.

I don't put batteries in any of my vehicles! If they leak they'll ruin the lights as I have seen when buying things on eBay. :(

Yes, if you did, you'd have to make it part of your routine to go through and light them all up every day, so the batteries didn't go bad. Then someone might have a seizure from the all the flashing, as many trucks as you have.

 but what about flashing lights for the victorian theme as well   :P how about light up headlights that flicker like candles for the classic car and an ahooga horn button  :P

flashing lights for the victorian theme?  :hmm: :hmm: if the klickies are having a party at the 5300 it would fit  :P i have no idea what a ahooga horn is , but a horn would be good for the car  :easterhop:

The should put some playmospace lights on the victorian vehicles and houses. I bet the 5300 would look much better  with some playmospace radars and playmospace flood lights and of course the flashing lights. and probably could do with some playmospace stickers and some playmosapce windows. now that is a custom worth dreaming about !!!!

I knew my post would provoke such a response !!!

Nothing wrong with the 5300, back to topic now , i was looking at Sir wolf's pictures over again, some of the details are superb i must say . the oly real critisism i have is that i would also love to see some outerspace vehicles etc , clearly the future planet vehicles etc are all for low altitude etc and they are not space vehicles and overall NOT a space theme which is not meant to be anyways of course. A combo of the future planet sets with a future outerspace set would be awesome. i guess that will depend how will these sets will do ....

Finally i am a bit surprised the base is not as big as i thought... looks very detailed though and thanks to pano's pics all of its tricks etc have been revealed. i thought it would much bigger though ??? ??? ??? ???

I totally agree to that George, an outer space vehicle is a must for the series  ;D

Maybe we'll get a couple more sets next year, like playmobil did with the Top Agent theme...  :crossed:

I wonder if Geobra would do one considering the last space theme flopped so badly. They had the orbiting space station 3079 and the deep space ship 3080 you speak of

They had the orbiting space station 3079 ...

3079 is considered an orbiting station?  :eh?: it sure looks more like a surface station, unless the instructions had another plan withing the instructions... then again, we all have vivid imaginations  ;D we can make any playmobil set an orbiting space station  ;D

3079 is by far not an orbiting station as it doesn't resemble one in any way ..... I think a different design that will reference to recent movies and the International space station would be more applicable and i cross my fingers geobra does this. Playmobil needs to get back to the space age with some decent spaceships like the ones in future planet and in a way top agents not that rubbish they made with the system x which was a huge huge disapointment after the ever so good and classic playmospace which is by far still my favourite...

Those red things on the bottom to me were landing pads & rocket boosters. Then it has the spaceship docking station. I put two of them together and make a complete circle and hang it from the ceiling. looks a lot more like a modern space station than the one from the 80's to me. Hardly takes a vivid imagination to see that?? I know you all hate that theme but that is just your opinion and we all have one  ;D

Instructions? I didn't need any to play  :P

I actually liked that theme but have'nt got around to get the station.... yet. And I am sure you did not need any instructions to play, or improvise, but you surely needed them for seting this thing up  ;D

The 3079 is not an orbit station.

It is a moon base.

It is the set that took me the most to put together but I LOVE IT!!!

add some imagination and it is what ever you want   :hehe:

You should see how we play with no limitations that you speak of  ;)

This is my favorite type of low altitude orbiting space station  :P

You know, perhaps if you took four or six of those 3079s and arrange them in a geometrical design, they would make up an awesome looking orbiting station. If it was not difficult to find some complete ones and at a cheap price, I'd have a go at it...  :crossed:

You're really lucky to have such great friends glad to hear that you got such a ncie surprise and that it's got you back into Playmobil. Those sets really are very cool love the modern futuristic look about it I'm not much good with putting down what I think in words but, they're really sweet cool sets fromt eh vehicles and the robots down to the cute little alien bot things  :) ;D
