Title: Disassembling Key Chains?
Post by: cardensb on January 26, 2012, 03:38:40
Is there anything different about taking apart a key chain klicky?  I have an Eskimo boy that needs a chain removed.

I used to de-keychain them by taking a pair of pliers and just yoinking out the pin... the contruction of the figure is the same as any other though if that is the question  ;)

If you want to change their hair to a non keychain hair piece
then you can stick a flathead screw driver under the hair in the back of his head,
Use it to leverage the back of the hair up and it should pop off.
The hair on my key chain kicky was molded to the head,
But he still had a regular head underneath.

I break off the top of the pin, then take off the hair and unscrew the rest  :). I haven't done if for a while, though. If I remember correctly the last keychains were produced in 2007.

I think they changed the design, right?

Back when I popped them, it would just be needed to pull the ring, and the pin would come off, the rest of the klicky was normal (the inside of the head had a "pole" to fit the pin, but that did't affect anything)..  Of course, there'd be a small hole on the hat and hair...
