Title: Shopping @ FunPark
Post by: EmGee on December 18, 2011, 18:50:35
Ok gang... a few things I got at the FunPark the other day... I REALLY had to control myself! I was aching for some of the new cavemen series...  Not pictured is Scaffolding 7333, they were on clearance for under $2, so I got 8 sets (all they had left!) I'm planning on using them to display some of my collection... anyway, here are the photos...

PM 4292 - I've wanted to get this set for a long time.

PM 5131 - Really cool little fishing boat (the knots and snags on the fishing line were my fault!)

PM 7682 - Operating Room. The "blanket" had some scuffs and scratches on it, I think you can see it in the photo. The IV drip had no tube/line to connected to the patient. Oh well... sad enough, what I like the most about this set is the yellow jars/bottles.

PM 7778 - Dentist's Office. I really like the chair and how all the parts connect and move together. The only "ooops" is that the patient's bib does NOT fit the little kid that's included in the set: it's too big and it keeps falling off. But it fits an adult size figure perfectly.

PM 5113 & 5118 - Custom Motorcycles. 2 out of a series of 6. I might get the rest...

Now, my favorite purchase from this trip... I was about to purchase it online that morning. I'm glad I didn't.  :xmascheer:

Congratulations! I got that pirate crew set yesterday through the mail, great set.  :)

I'd gues they have great morphine in that operating room considering the big smile on the patient despite the doctor coming at him with a knife.  ;)

Nice finds, EmGee! I always wanted that operation room set, with the grinning patient and doctor ! My only question is how you got the new fishing boat and motorcycles ???. I thought they wern't out in the U.S yet, so I checked the Playmobil USA website, and they're not up yet.

The Funpark in Palm Beach Gardens gets the new releases well before anywhere else in the USA.  8-)

Congrats on these fine purchases, EmGee! I'm assuming the operating room and dentists office weren't in the box - you got them off of DS, right? <*)

I agree that the PM Collector book is especially helpful when trying to identify or date a set. Nice purchases!

Yeah, that patient reminds me of Bill Murray's character on the Little Shop of Horros movie. :)

hello Ace,
Like Robbie said, the Fun Parks gets the new items before anyone else, including their website. I remember I got the latest Christmas sets about 4 o 5 months before they were available online.
It's good to be close to the FP!

Playmogal & Tonguello,
YES, the book is great! Definitely the purchase of the day!
My only question is, items in the book are rated on how common/rare they are... but do they mean in the European market or worldwide? Hmmmm Either way, I love it!

 Nope, my avatar is an artist/painter. The dentist looks like him, but the dentist hair is different. It has those soft edges. Hard to explain.

EmGee:
Did you notice any white PM coffee mugs for sale at the FL FP? Someone in FL has listed some of these at:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-PLAYMOBIL-Mug-Cup-W-Figures-Awesome-Full-Size-Great-Coffee-Tea-GERMANY-COOL-/190617555039?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2c61b1105f

We are trying to figure out where the seller is finding these mugs. Thanks!!!

George, you do know you can take any image, Nuremberg knights for example and have them printed on any mug you want. We used to get the kids pictures put on mugs for their Grandparents morning cup of Jo.

Not a bad idea to have klicky pics put on one... hadn't thought of that!

Something else I realized is that you could take any figure and have a lifesize replica made. Playmobil doesn't make the lifesize figures; another company produces them for PM.  I haven't looked into it but it seems like a much easier way to get them......I will remember this when I'm rich and famous.

We were at the FL funpark in September and they had the mugs behind the counter for $4.99.
I bought 2, now I wish I would have gotten more, but all the more reason to return in the spring.

They had the new silver police van and the western stagecoach, I got them both they are awesome.

Great purchases you got there! I want the dentist one! Where else can you find the collector's book online? Amazon only had up until 2004. Is there a more recent copy (like 2011)?

Easy to explain, your avatar combed his hair to not be recognized and leads a secret double life as a dentist.
"EmGee, artist by day, dentist at night."

Thanks for the coffee mug info from the FL FP. Somehow we missed those last July.

Maybe because we could barely push our two overloaded carts and manage to lift 15 more Lechuza planters on the counter before we collapsed from the strain and our credit cards perished from overuse.

For some reason our memory of that day is a bit of a nightmare because we had PM in our laps when we finally managed to slam the car doors at the FL FP. I had to open boxes as the car rolled onto I-95 for the 12 hour drive home, and combine sets in fewer boxes so that we could breathe and turn our heads to see the semis rolling towards us at 90 mph. Luckily hubby was driving as I managed to dispose of about ten boxes and regained circulation in my legs.

And no, I did not throw the empty boxes out the window (boy would that have been FUNNNNN!) as we cruised north on 95. And I am so glad that my memory of that day is fading! So beware if you visit a FP....take a Semi/18 wheeler or whatever and avoid the grief of how to get all of this stuff in your car for the trip home.

Happy shopping! :xmascheer: :xmascheer: :xmascheer:

Robbie,
Maybe it is better if FPs are closed when we drive by...that way we can say we have been there, but we make it out with our bank accounts still intact!
Just be prepared when you go in....it is a bit like a black hole! :cracker:
