Excellent Skywalker !!!! Always so nice to see my favourite steck and klikcies on display and  yours  is one of the best i have seen, i really love so many  of the details , such as how you have hung the metal cage , very nice and very clever sire !!!!  ;D ;D ;D ;D

Perhaps you can link this castle to the maps section with some stories , stories of visiting kings and knights are popular these days and if i dare say i think enforce a community spirit.

PS: King Iseroth would love to leave his overcrowded city and visit this lovely castle !!!

PS: More pictures sire !!!! i really like some of the klickies with the coloured nurnberger insignia on front, remind me of custom klikcies made by playmobil for their early medieval dioramas !!! and your diorama is fantastic sire !!!!!!!!!!!!

Holy Cow that is impressive.  The backdrop pulled my attention away as I studied it, then the ton of trees and finally all the classic klickies.
How does everyone feel about mixing the old and modern styles.  I find it hard to do.  I have some Indian and Native Americans and cannot mix them in the same scene.

How does everyone feel about mixing the old and modern styles.  I find it hard to do.

I have no problem with that whatsoever. Reference medieval set ups the old farmers , male , femals and townfolk along with the specials of the mid 90s that can be used in such a set up are essential as current medieval lines are all warrior klickies etc etc

they really need to bring back more steck houses and some medieval time townfolk  :hmm: :hmm: :hmm: :hmm: :hmm:

As always I love your dioramas. I really like the arrangement of the buildings and some of the interesting structures. It does look very much like the old box backs.
There is an outside wooden stair in the top of the scene. Where is that from?

Post by: Skywalker on December 17, 2011, 23:29:04
Thx Tim ! just saw your santa dio and we must have been on a same vibe the last weeks with all the green glasses and arches for the the big steck buildings.  :)

i did also bought some lights but hadn´t the time to put them on. mine are more inside lights. i really love the ones you put outside.

the stairs are a bit of a mistery.  they are sold as castle stairs but i really don´t know from which set.

cheers.

Classic was the word that came to me. Lovely, too.
(The only guys I saw that weren't the older ones [in the first setup] were the boar hunters ... :lens: )

Lovely, very good! Thanks for sharing!

Wow! That is fantastic
There is so much detail I keep going back to look some more.
I love the way you have built the top of the tall building on the right, have you used the ruined wall pieces uspide down as supports?
I also love the stairs against the stone wall, they really seem to fit in well.
All in all I just love it all

excellent stuff !!! is it too much to ask for some close up pics of how these stairs are set with the steck ?
Title: Re: Castle Eisenherz
Post by: Skywalker on December 18, 2011, 08:08:17
Thanks to everyone.

Elaine : exactly. i used the ruined walls upside down as support.

stairs : they are from the zoo set 3634. they fit in steck but in this case i had them just stand on the first floor ( i had one "laufbrett" outside…hmm i don´t know how to describe this in english- so i will make a pic…) on the second floor it just leans on the wall.

Thanks everybody !

In the beginning i had some 90s playmo here and there but on in the second day i banned all other stuff then the 70s 80s. when i do a dio like this i like to have old catalogues and boxes around - so i can have a look and catch some ideas. the photography is getting better also because i have a new cam. it´s a canon 60D which is just great. the cam does also HD filming which is very nice. before i started with the dio i had  2 weeks of filming and i bought new studio lights. so this was another big plus. playing around with aperture and different settings finally made me better understand the whole "depth of field" section. i use a lot of the stuff i learn making dio pics for my filming in "real" life.
i watch the making of "Lord of the Rings" ( the long version - about 12 hours ) at least every 3 months. i love how they build their miniatures and work with dios and special effects etc….

Probably wasnt the best place for that clicky to escape from the law.
He's the only one there with red hair, a beard and an eyepatch.

Now a criminal clicky thats described as a white guy with black spiky hair and a friendly smile, that would be one thats impossible to identify.
