Toby Goes to the Zoo

Part 1a: Toby Arrives at the Zoo

'Here we are!' said Mummy.

'I think that this will be very educational for Toby,' said Daddy.



'Where do we pay?' wondered Daddy.



'Over here,' said Mummy.



'Two adults and one child, please,' said Mummy.



'Can we have a zoo map?' asked Toby.

'No, we don't need a map,' said Daddy, 'There will be maps and signposts all over the zoo.'



'Look!' said Toby, 'There's a shop.  And they sell toys!'



'Maybe we can look at the shop on the way home,' said Daddy, 'We want to go and see the animals right now.'



'There's a big map here,' said Toby.



'Look!  Look!' cried Toby, 'There's a Children's Play Area!  Let's go to the Children's Play Area!'

'Toby, we haven't come to the zoo to go to a children's playpark!' said Mummy.

Part 2:  The Rhino Exhibit

'Look!' said Toby, 'There are trains!  And the train goes to the Children's Play Area.'



'Toby,' said Daddy, 'Like Mummy said, we haven't come to the zoo to go to a playpark; nor to ride on trains.  We're going to walk along the African Adventure Trail, and it will be very exciting.'



'I would have liked to have ridden on a train, though,' said Toby.



'Come along Toby,' said Daddy, 'Look, we're coming to the Rhinos now.'



'Toby!' said Mummy, 'Get down off those rocks at once!  You will ruin your sandals!'



What Toby Didn't See

Toby didn't see the rhinoceros off-exhibit enclosure.



He didn't know that there was a zookeepers' area.



And holding pens for rhinos.

I am loving your off exhibit areas! Great job with them. That zoo fencing sideways on hooks as a barred doorway is genius! Love the use of the hotel room doors as locked entries as well

Love the keys hanging in the human resources.. is that original? The purpose, I mean?

No.  The shelf unit with pegs comes from the 5567 Kindergarten - which I didn't buy; I just ordered a few interesting parts from.  I don't know what that shelf-with-pegs is meant to be: it makes me think of storage for outdoor shoes, with the pegs underneath for bags containing indoor slippers.

More than that, though, it makes me think of  somewhere to hang keys!  But keys don't hang on there easily.   They do fall off again very easily.  There were many curses behind the scenes.  I replaced those keys many times. I threatened them with poster putty.  They eventually agreed to stay there long enough for me to take a photo.
