As much as its great for people to put the message in a bottle and cross a item off their bucket list, sending plastic out to sea is a bad idea for the environment.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Pacific_garbage_patch

Playmobil also took a hit in bad press when one of their little models was found on the ocean floor and was the image used to refer to the plastic trash that ends up in our oceans, lakes, rivers and streams.

I'm a fan in sailing a plastic ship, but only if I am bringing it home with me when I am done.

Really?

Why not just ban playmobil completely as it is made from oil?
O brother where for art thou?

It may yet come to that. Mad Hadder is right, plastic in the environment is a looming massive issue, and it's even worse than he says: it's not just in the oceans, it's all up and down our foodchain, and even in our very drinking water: https://orbmedia.org/stories/Invisibles_plastics

However I don't think there's anything to be gained by discussing it on this site. There are plenty of other places to talk about prospects and solutions. Me, I just bought two Caesar sets.

Great story in the OP. I like how "Parents MacNeill and Vicki Ferguson came up with the idea to provide the boys with excitement and interesting alternatives to screen time" - they're really flexing the brains of their children, very good for them! They've even "made tea from snow"!

I do wish they'd included a picture of what the ship looks like now. I can't help but think it's pretty battered (and I don't mean it's ready for frying!).

Warning: "When drinking a bottle of water, you might choke on a klicky"

Resistance is futile, you will be boarded!

We need a trade aid store where you can purchase environmentally friendly products made from recycled playmobil.

They made it to CNN Yesterday, that is when I read this story for the first time!  I laughed out loud when I saw a Playmobil Pirate ship on my Cnn News feed!
