Tiermann's Psychotic eBay Binge
« on: December 09, 2005, 04:35:41 »
Does it count as psychotic if it's only one auction?
How about if it's a really expensive auction??

I have trains now.  ;D  You were right Meg, very bad type of addiction.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=ADME:B:EOIBSAA:US:11&Item=6018864146

They have the tenders mixed up. It's the Western engine and tender, and then the larger engine with the powered tender. Plus of courset he green engine which I love - it will be perfect for pulling the zoo train - it has it's two passenger cars (set 4005). If it arrives before Christmas I may do a Beach Theme small tree with my summer klickies for a nice change. :)

I am such a sheepasaurus sometimes, every one else is having psychotic binges and I just have to go along with the crowd...

I think you did very well on your binge.
Perhaps it didnt load properly but I couldnt get a good look at all the other photos

You have the Western train and engine, the other black engine and tender, with is actually two engines, and the green engine.
The Western Colorado Postal car is probably my favorite car.

Is your zoo train going to be a small train that goes throughout the zoo?
The Milwaukee zoo has one of those.

has anyone been on the Tootsie Rail Road in western north carolina.
I was only a little kid, but a do have some vague memories of it.

Meg I recall tootsie rolls (loved 'em) but only saw the train on TV.

I am very happy with it of course. So nice to be part of the "in crowd" for once ;)

It's a good thing my family decided to not exchange Christmas presents this year. :) I never would have been able to swing it otherwise. It's the most I have ever spent on Playmo at one time. I don't want to know how much I spend a year...

I have to admit, I'm a little jealous ... but good grab there, Tim!

DH and I have been going back and forth on whether or not to get a Playmo train (that very one), or G-scale garden trains.  We're leaning toward garden trains, if only for weatherability.  I'd hate to leave Playmo out in the snow, and I haven't seen a Playmo Roundhouse  ;)

It came today.
So far I have just gotten the engines unwrapped. Defnitely a few pieces missing as could be seen in the photos. I am sure I can get at least some of them since they are still in production for the 4021 set. My Western engine isnt in very good shape - missing the stack, the light box broke off in transit, and some sun coloring. If I can get hold of a stack I can fix it up and do a repaint perhaps.
I am missing one of those baffle looking things off the 4052 engine (the flat parts at the front - missing the left side one)

I will start unwrapping the rolling stock tomorrow and will report on that then.

I think they're called smoke deflectors technically or blinkers by the non-technical.

Ok, so here's the rest of the rolling stock:
4102 Boxcar yellow complete
4116 Double Hopper complete
4114 Container car complete
4005 Passenger Car 1 - could use a replacement roof but not critical
4005 Passenger Car 2 - same thing with the roof, plus needs a red brake wheel
4120 Passenger Car PRR - red brake wheel
4123 Caboose - red brake wheel, and missing the stove and pipe (should be available from DS when the new Forest series hits the shelves here)
Now the harder to get ones:
4103 Red Hopper - missing a ladder and a red brake wheel
4121 Stock Car Green - missing a green door and a red brake wheel

The green door and the ladder look to be the hardest to get. The rest should be available from DS once I can get the numbers.

Not too bad, there is mild wear on most of them but that's not a problem.

There is also an LGB Shell tank car and a cool work crane car. Both seem basically complete but I can't say for certain.
