Title: Hi from Tel-Aviv, Israel
Post by: sunshai on November 26, 2016, 07:32:48
Hi there.

i'm new at Playmofriends. I'm Shai from Tel-Aviv, Israel. I'm a stock exchange broker/portfolio manager. I'm also the admin of www.Playmodeal.com
I started to collect Playmobil sets to my children and I like it very much. In order to to get more and spend less I looked for the best Amazon deals on these sets and
found out that the prices between the Amazon sites change rapidly and sometimes there are amazing prices but they end up very quickly. So, I opened an affiliate site to help people find good bargains on current playmobil sets on 3 European Amazon sites (DE, UK, FR). I chose the sets that I think give alot in the first place and I monitor their price. Further more, I found out that for a non-EU residents, like myself, the more expensive shipping costs are compensated by 18% tax reduction (free VAT) so maybe the shipping looks "heavy" but in fact there isn't much difference. So for me as an Israeli, or for an American, Canadian, Russian and so on it is a really good way to enjoy European Playmobil prices.
That's it, I'm here to observe and enjoy :-)

Welcome Shai from Stroud, England!
Is Playmobil popular in Israel? I have had a few expressions of interest from Israel residents in my eBay.co.uk listings of 'used' Playmobil in the last few years, but the shipping costs seem to put people off a bit So its good to know you can save on the VAT on new sets at least.
Some of those Playmodeal prices look enticing!

Hi Graham B,

yap, Playmobil is a very popular brand here. But it is ridiculously expensive. That's why I started looking for better offers abroad. Even though there is the shipping cost expense I still get it much cheaper .I think that Playmobil Inc. could have increase the brand distribution if they make an effort to reduce boxes size (because shipping costs are effected by the volume). in the fashion bussines, the british NEXT have done it, and they are selling here alot without having even one "real" store.

Hello from the Netherlands,
Its a pitty to hear Playmobil is so expensive in your country.
And yes the box sizes are often huge. On the otherhand in general children in like big boxes.

There are international box sizes which make the best use of container space and so help keep shipping costs down, and Playmobil boxes meet these standards.

Playmofire, it's true. It does made best to fit all the logistic chain. Nevertheless, there are sets that when opened you found out more than half of the package is empty. I agree that kids love the big packages, but If i was to be in charge i might have thought of another solution to reduce costs. such as final packaging in destination country if possible.

Hello from the Netherlands.

Some boxes are so big because the baseplate is one peace or part of a building is in one piece. It's the choice they make, easy building or smaller box and lots of parts.

Like this one I opened yesterday...  :-[
In general customers don’t like wasteful packaging. At least Playmobil don't use any void fill, so no waste there.

it's a good example. Someone said here that kids love big boxes, it's very true. But it makes international shipping more expensive (especially by air, like I order), ans therefore is makes the product less affordable.
Anyways, it's a beautiful fire engine set, what do you think of it?
In my site I published the 5362 because it is cheaper and it has a ladder. In a world with no budget limits, I would have them all :-)

Its a beautifull set. Nice arm which can fold out. Will probably order an extra arm to make a military radar for one of my custom projects. Better lighting (10 Leds)  then the firetruck 5363 (2 leds) we already have. And a storage door on the rooftop disapear vertical in the truck on opening. That's nicely done. And I love the 8 wheels. They are like the ones on the Maxx7 crane (4036). I don't like the open rooftop. I do like the 3 seats in it. They have put one in the middle on the second row. Cost us 42,50 EUR shiping free.

That would be too big of a problem: do I keep it or eat it?
