Title: Leefert's collection
Post by: leefert on April 01, 2014, 01:51:52
Well part of it anyway.... Here's my assembly of animals (more to be added) that I am working on for a zoo project (still collecting bits and pieces to make it how I want it so stay tuned).  There's going to be some customizing work done as well.

Great collection! Your zoo is going to be large with all those big animals. You found a lot of hippo's! Love those.

I've had the Hippos since I was a child. We still have all of the Playmobil we played with as kids. There are little pieces missing or broken here or there but it's all here.

It must be wonderful to have so many lovely animals.  (Those ostriches look good face-on.)  I'll look forward to seeing your zoo!

Great looking collection. Your zoo will be impressive I'm sure.

Thank you!  As I said, I'm still in the process of procuring additional animals and doing some customizing to some (and that doesn't show the babies either)  I'm actually a bit anxious to build my zoo (but I have many more pieces to acquire before that will become a reality.  Maybe by the end of summer- or it could be my winter project (just have to keep the cats from wrecking it).

I added a few more items for my zoo over the past few weeks

(http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y79/leefert/Mobile%20Uploads/2014-05/F0940C12-3185-4DC8-8502-126354526070.jpg) (http://s3.photobucket.com/user/leefert/media/Mobile%20Uploads/2014-05/F0940C12-3185-4DC8-8502-126354526070.jpg.html)

I have a plan for the 4460 set, I'm hoping it works out the way I imagine.

(http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y79/leefert/Mobile%20Uploads/2014-05/4CEB4B42-9838-474F-8C6F-CD837F1C4657.jpg) (http://s3.photobucket.com/user/leefert/media/Mobile%20Uploads/2014-05/4CEB4B42-9838-474F-8C6F-CD837F1C4657.jpg.html)

I got the Volcano (incomplete) on eBay for an insanely cheap price. I ordered most of the missing pieces from DS (cost me more for the missing pieces than the volcano but the rock slide was missing) then realized I forgot to order a couple of the pieces so they will be here in about 10 days lol

So now onto trying to obtain the remaining infrastructure that I want (which makes me glad TRU is bringing the amusement sets over early). I might be ready to build my zoo this winter

Nice to see you have a colony of blue footed boobies!
I'm curious which animal is so lucky to get to live on a volcano.

Thanks for sharing the pictures.

I'm not sure who is going to get to live on the volcano... Obviously when I'm done it won't be an active one. Lol and yes, I thought 6 made for a decent colony of Blue Foots

That is awesome, I'm very much looking forward to seeing your zoo appear on the forum this winter  :)

I actually got a vulcano set at the Playmobil store in Dietenhofen for the same purpose: it looks SO cool as an animal hideout and it's got some very unusual foliage and trees. *pretty!*
Expensive set if you get it new, but I gave the dinosaurs to my nephew, so I had an excuse  ;D

And the tree house is such a lovely set aswell. Great finds!

Good thing I have plenty of space to build it in!  I added the Ferris Wheel from the amusement series today... It just might make it's way into the zoo as well ;)

Today I added the rest of the amusement theme to my collection and got a dino set too.  I should have gotten 2 more motors but I didn't think about it.  40% off so not a bad haul!

I've been playing around on eBay again and picked up some people and a few small accessories this weekend.  Still a long way to go to get everything that I want and need to make my zoo a reality.

I was looking over my "inventory of animals" today and realized that I haven't updated it in a while since I've added a few more.

Does anyone else keep an inventory of their playmobil pieces?

I started a spreadsheet of mine - link in my profile - but haven't bothered to keep it up. Feels too much like work.

I started a spreadsheet of mine - link in my profile - but haven't bothered to keep it up. Feels too much like work.

I'm doing it just for the animals, and have quickly found how not up-to-date it is. So when I quickly looked at it before deciding to buy something off eBay, I saw that I had the need. When I physically looked at my bin of animals I discovered that I had enough of it.

Now I was looking last night and have decided that I need to start customizing some of the animals that I want in my zoo. And then find some way to make some beautiful zoo signs like the one seller has on eBay for some of the different critters (unfortunately the words are in Spanish). And I really need to get working on the infrastructure for the zoo. I still need a bunch of things!

Nice collection! I'm looking forward to seeing your zoo. How did you get all those blue-footed boobies? I want some so bad, I don't even have one yet. :( I just can't justify buying a $60 set for one bird. Does anyone know if they are available as spare parts in Germany?

Have you tried US Parts dept. Bonnie? I got mine from there when they first came out.
If anyone wants a copy of the animal master list in Excel spreadsheet format let me know. That's how I keep it and then copy paste to the page on Animobil. I don't track any of my other stuff, just what animals exist and if I have them or not. The list doesn't include 2015 releases yet. I will be adding those when they are officially announced to the public.

Over the last few weeks I've added various sets and parts... Here's some of the newer additions (not all parts of sets are pictured). I've added some more accessories for my zoo project, and have some more on the way!

I bought a second motor for the swings, still need to get one more as the spinning discs from the amusement theme use it as well.  It makes the Ferris Wheel and swings move so much smoother than if you hand crank them.

So I've been at it again recently scouring eBay to get some new parts/ pieces/ people (I actually forgot about one of the items that I ordered.)

I'm getting closer to having the infrastructure that I want for my now apparently massive zoo diorama!  There's more new stuff coming this week from a massive TRU and Playmobil order, plus I'm getting together a DS order.  Oh boy!  I love tax time!

I also bought a new cart to make storage a little easier.

Yeah considering that for years they have all just been massed in large plastic tubs with absolutely ZERO organization to them.  I find something new every time I open one!  Haha

And I'm definitely NOT an organizer so that makes this all the more fun.  I may actully go and see if I can get another one of those carts today (which then means there will be a physical trip to TRU, not just online!)

Now to sit and wait for the UPS man...

My collection has grown again!

I've been sporadically splurging to add bites and pieces to my collection... Not a bad haul, the two Oak trees were only $3 each!  They didn't have any leaves though (the leaves on them are the ones I've stolen off of my little oak trees so I hope DS has some of the leaves available) up the ale at TRU and picked up a couple of sets that might have some usefulness in some of my future Playmo-plans :D I'm still stockpiling sets and items for my diorama ideas.  I was happy to get the Hot Dog Cart (mostly complete) for only a few dollars.  And the Penguin super set was a good deal as well!

:) and something else about your nickname, when you say leefert in Dutch, you say 'lieverd'. Means something as sweetheart; to address your husband/ wife, child... a special beloved one. So the next time a Dutchman says 'leefert'  to you, you know he's trying to be nice..

That's really neat info Lynx! Thanks for that

when you say leefert in Dutch, you say 'lieverd'.

Only when pronounced in NL-Dutch though.
But as such it sounds much nicer then f.e. "Lee Fart".  ;D

Okay, you can shoot me now.

I decided to do a little animal inventory today...

(http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y79/leefert/Playmobil/birds.jpg) (http://s3.photobucket.com/user/leefert/media/Playmobil/birds.jpg.html)

The Birds and Feathered Friends... Man I have a lot of Flamingos :D For whatever reason I decided to put the Koi I made in this one as well as some mice... hmmm those extra fish might be transformed soon ;)

(http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y79/leefert/Playmobil/Lions%20Tigers%20and%20Bears%20OH%20MY.jpg) (http://s3.photobucket.com/user/leefert/media/Playmobil/Lions%20Tigers%20and%20Bears%20OH%20MY.jpg.html)

Lions and Tigers and Bears OH MY! And beavers, skunks, Kangaroos, Meercats...

(http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y79/leefert/Playmobil/Reptiles.jpg) (http://s3.photobucket.com/user/leefert/media/Playmobil/Reptiles.jpg.html)

Reptiles and Amphibians... pretty sure that a python and cobra are missing (thank heavens they are just plastic!)

(http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y79/leefert/Playmobil/Lg%20Animals.jpg) (http://s3.photobucket.com/user/leefert/media/Playmobil/Lg%20Animals.jpg.html)

Oh Deer! And Moose, Buffalo, Giraffes, Gazelles, Okapi, Goats... Hmmmmm looks like 8 of my Reindeer might be at the North Pole since they obviously missed the picture

(http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y79/leefert/Playmobil/Elephants.jpg) (http://s3.photobucket.com/user/leefert/media/Playmobil/Elephants.jpg.html)

Elephants, and more elephants, and hippos and rhinos too

(http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y79/leefert/Playmobil/primates.jpg) (http://s3.photobucket.com/user/leefert/media/Playmobil/primates.jpg.html)

Hey Hey We're the "Monkeys"! People say we monkey around"!  I need more Monkeys!

Looking at the amazing quantity of animals you have ready for your zoo and the range of structures purchased, will you create a drive- through animal park rather than a visitors centre? I much prefer the idea of roaming animals in a natural environment - something like Woburn Safari Park rather than London Zoo, for those of us living in UK.

Possibly I will get to it tonight. I didn't realize there wasn't one yet. Hopefully by tomorrow I can get one done.

Yes Tahra, I had to get the Otters!!! And the Lynx. Not sure what I will get next with my $20 coupon from Playmobil when they send it next month (possibly new zoo animals, maybe the tree house...)

Some of these sets are actually duplicated from the previous pictures (I couldn't remember what my last picture actually had in it).  I've added some of the new Wildlife sets to my collection.

It's easier to put the tree house together when you don't have "help"

Who then decided that it was "too hard" and thought it was better to take a nap.  I had time to leave and go to the grocery store and she was still there an hour after I got home.

The oak trees at the top, I bought the actual trunks themselves for like $2 or $3... then ordered the leaves from direct service (another $19) still a lot cheaper than most.  And now I have 3 of the big oaks.

I accidentally ordered 2 of the backpacker with beaver and fallen tree.  I decided that was okay though since I like that tree... I now have 8 or 10 beavers.  It's okay.

Miscellaneous sets that I have scrounged up off of Amazon Warehouse deals and then the ridiculously low priced sets on Walmart

Advent calendars that were also ridiculously low priced.  The Santa's workshop one I have 6 or 7 of now, but I need the parts and elves to build my Santa's workshop

School sets that I got when they were on sale at Walmart

Nice finds! I love finding PM bargains. The big sets always seem so expensive when offered at standard retail prices. [That's the nearest emoticon to 'waving fingers as if you just burnt them' I could find.]

So fun looking through this thread from the beginning & seeing your collection of animals & fun bargain purchases!  :o

I had some laughs over your "helper" & the "oterts" too  (I don't know the story of the oterts but I'm intrigued now!) :D

Otert comes from Raven’s fun little photo story.  And my “helper” still “helps” with construction and destruction of things

True, which is fine when you find the cache.  But some parts when stepped on in the dark are like stepping on Legos...

Many of my customizing projects are on hiatus right now thanks to my helpers.  One likes to play with the paint brush, another will steal the parts.

I managed to complete my Scooby Doo Ghosts Series 1.  Most of them were actually blind pulls since the cases were dumped together or dug through.  The final one I needed was the Clown, which figured to be the hardest because he's in the front of the left row and if someone is just going to grab, well it's the front ones that they take.  It took 3 different Walmart stores to come up with the whole series, and I actually did pretty well at not getting a ton of doubles.  Some of the doubles that I got were ones that I didn't mind getting doubles of.

At the risk of starting up The Controversy again, I have to say some of those figures are incredibly "politically incorrect"!

Haha! Absolutely!

The one thing I noticed with them is that accessories seemed flimsy. Especially Carlotta’s hair and bonnet, Geronimo’s Tomahawk. And none of the suits actually stay completely together.

Flimsy - you mean they're in that soft plastic that newer flagpoles etc. are in?

Yep. I thought that I was going to bend the tomahawk out of shape trying to get it in Geronimo’s hand. And I love Carlotta’s hair style, but it is much thinner than previous hairs
