5388 vs 9167
« on: March 01, 2017, 15:00:46 »
I just ordered 5389 from Amazon, as it was $6.99 & I had an Amazon gift card. Is it EXACTLY the same as the new 9167? Regardless, it was a good price as 9167, which hasn't been released yet, is listed at $9.99.

Pretty sure it's identical. Post a photo of it set up when you get it. I have the 9000 series version and can let you know if there are any differences in contents.

Is that weird set of spokes on the camel saddle based on a real thing?

My guess is yes, but I don't find an easy Google image of it. It might be a good question to ask at the PCC.

seen this happen with more sets....kinda weird. Maybe a PM North America issue?
Police take a long station 5299 = 5689 Same set, just different box art and number.

It actually has to do with the fact the one box has both English and "French" as is required by Canada Law to sell items here. This is not required in Europe. If you are interested in learning more about labling laws in Canada here is the link.

The 5389 camel spits, but the 9167 has a non-firing camel for the North American markets.
At that moment the ship suddenly stopped rocking and swaying, the engine pitch settled down to a gentle hum. 'Hey Ford.' said Zaphod, 'that sounds good. Have you worked out the controls on this boat?' 'No,' said Ford, 'I just stopped fiddling with them.' (With thanks to Douglas Adams)

I think the spikes are based on howdah defences for elephants.
