Does nobody find this important / pityfull enough to write a reaction ??
I did wonder about that. What seems to be interesting is that there is no indication of 70151/ Pirate ship with engine wherever in the new catalogue (nor the Galaxy Police) or I still have to find it. Funnily enough they are re-creating the pirate area in Zirndorf so we have a contradiction. Then again they also have a Western area though hardly a massive Western portfolio. Anyway maybe they have changed their strategy and announce some more sets during the course of the year.
Cheers
Michael

My guess is we’ll see a pirate theme re-boot next year.  It’ll be more fantasy oriented too just like the new knights.  I’m sure there will be a new large ship, it’ll fly and shoot fireballs.  ::) ::)

Judging by the releases of past years that might well be so. I gave up on expecting anything of what we have seen in the 80s or the 90s. Am I disappointed? Not really. I rather focus on smaller sets like the Rembrandts or the Gingerbread Guy. Beautiful sets - totally unexpected but lovely to look at. Are there any pirate portraits in the Amsterdam museum by any chance? :D
Cheers

Here´s a (copy of a) painting of the Dutch admiral Piet Hein. Though not a "true pirate", he captured the Spanish Silverfleet in 1628 and was regarded by them as a kind of pirate, just like England´s Sir Francis Drake in the 16th century.
Not sure if this painting is in any museum or in someone´s private collection.

And another famous Dutch admiral, Michiel de Ruyter. Not a pirate but he did battle the English on many occasions. No clue if any paintings about him are on display in the Rijksmuseum.

There´s a nice movie about Michiel De Ruyter & his adventures from 2015, very cool with great scenes for those who love 16th/17th/18th-century seabattles, here´s the offical trailer from back then;
